Apple watch is a HARD no until at least 3 days battery.
What the heck do you plan to do, hike the Himalayas? Yes, 3 days battery would be a very welcomed feature, but let's face it, for 99% of the population what we have is more than enough.

Not quite as feature rich you argue but honestly they have most if not all comparable features at this point.
Glad you like the product you purchased.

Has anyone confirmed if fast charging is possible with the MagSafe Duo? The Duo is not mentioned in the support article, so I’m guessing it’s not. But it would be good to know for sure.

I don’t believe so. The coil design is different in the charger that they provide to allow more power transfer

Is there a technical reason they couldn't implement USB-PD with type-A jacks? Or did they just want to kill type-A?

It's annoying because 99% of USB charging outlets provided to the public out in the real world are type-A.
I believe there is a wattage limit for type-A USB that is below the threshold of that allowable by USB-C, including this higher wattage required for fast(er) charging.

I love the logic from apple. Eliminate the charging adapter from the package of their products, but at the same time include usb-c cables that do not even work those plugs they claim everyone already has at home.

Environmental my A
The environment thing was purely marketing. It's obvious the fact that their stores are still selling the old 5W chargers by the boatload. If environment was the real reason, they would've switched to faster charging and USB-C long time ago, so people don't have to buy extra cables/chargers when customers also have USB-C only Macs. Even better, put in extra USB-C port on the Macbook charger so customers can charge their iPhones at the same time. Less things to buy, less waste.

Instead, Apple kept the 5W charger and lightning for so long. Apple is all about selling more for money.

Fast charging not available in some countries? That’s weird. Is it disabled in hardware in these countries or does it get disabled if your region is set to these countries, I wonder.
I have been wondering the same, I am planning to buy it and now when I saw this, I do feel disappointed.

Can you stop pretending that this has anything to do with the watch and that it is just because a usb c is able to deliver a higher wattage! I have used a Usb c atch charger since Apple released it and the same charging gains I experienced with the 6 is just like 7.

Apple watch is a HARD no until at least 3 days battery. Fitbit Huawei Tickwatch all have AMOLED displays and All last at last 7 days. Not quite as feature rich you argue but honestly they have most if not all comparable features at this point.
Most if not all? Apple Pay on my wrist? Use my bank’s ATM with a watch? Unlock a car with watch? Unlike my Mac?

USB-C sweet. So, we have to buy the fast charging charger? Apple really eliminated the charger from an Apple Watch?

Apple, can you please come up with something like this so I can charge my iPhone and Apple Watch with one charger continuously? Now this is how you save the environment!

That's actually ample justification for Apple to eliminate the charging bricks from their products - because different customers are going to customise their charging setups in so many different permutations. Rather than include a brick that may just end up sitting in the box because users already have something better.

One user may opt for a MagSafe duo; another may go with the Belkin MagSafe charger and forgo fast-charging. A third may be perfectly comfortable sticking with an older 12w iPad charger. If you want a charger with 2 usb-c ports, companies like Anker already sell such a product.

Last I checked, the 18w charger that came with my iPad Pro and the 30w charger that came with my MBA are still sitting in the drawer, because I have a 60w Anker charger for my laptop and am using a 30w dual-port charger for my iPad and microphone.

So if you look at my current setup, I am actually not using any bundled Apple charging bricks or cables at all! Well, except for that one usb-c cable that came with my 2018 iPad Pro...

I swear my series 6 charges faster with this cable, only reason I know is the new bedside outlets has two USB-C. Anecdotal, not empericaled yet.
I would not be the least bit surprised. Some older iPhones would also charge faster with higher amperage chargers even though technically they were not compatible. There is always the question of impact to longevity in a situation like this but considering that these are meant to last ~3 years I’m sure it’s fine.

I didn’t yet try to charge my Series 6 but I did try my Series 7 with the new charger and the 18W brick that came with my old iPhone 11 Pro. Something wasn’t right because the charging took forever. I think the contact between the puck and the back of the Watch has to be spot on and I think my Spigen stand for the Watch that I’ve been using for years is just a bit off in dimensions for the new puck. Shouldn’t be, but I think it is. After I adjusted everything and re-seated the puck in the stand the charging seems to have gone relatively quickly. I’m going to run some more tests and I might try out the Series 6 as well on it, just to see how it does.

I try not to use fast charging in any capacity if I can help it. Especially on devices I carry on my wrists. I like my wrists. Would prefer not to set them on fire or have them explode.
I fast charged my S7 and it didn't get hot at all for what its worth

No you don't. If you read that article it clearly says any USB-C PD charger 5W and up will work, which is pretty much every USB-C PD charger ever made. The reason Apple lists Apple chargers 18W and up is because they've never made a USB-C charger lower than 18W.

There are plenty of GaN chargers with multiple USB-C ports.

Why <10W specifically? The charger will only draw what it needs from the brick.
Because lesser W chargers are smaller. I don’t want a big charger if I don’t need the W. I have a bit of a space crunch at the outlet where I charge my watch.

Will this work? I know it’s technically not PD certified…

Anyone tested their series 7 for fast charging with the Anker Nano 20w listed here. It doesn’t officially support the PD standard but it might still work.

Yes, I just got one. I found my watch hadn’t been aligned on the charger last night and it was down to about 14% this morning. It charged to about 90% in 45 minutes.

What is the maximum wattage a series 7 watch can charge at, I cannot find it out on my searches on apple site? Seems pointless stating you can use a 96W charger if the watch cannot charge at that rate, it leaves the consumer none the wiser as to which charger is optimal considering the price difference between each charger.
