For those that wear your watch overnight, when do you charge it?
I charge my watch (AW 4) when I’m sitting at a desk working, when showering, or at some point I’m home and not moving around much for a little while. It doesn’t take long to charge up high enough to last for hours. I could even charge for about 30 minutes before bedtime and have the battery last all night and more.

he was talking about these 5 nights...if you take it from your wrist....you reset the whole thing ?!
If yes, this is irrelevant since the battery life dont last 5 nights
If the algorithm can pause and resume then this can be done.
You don’t have to wear it for 5 days and nights straight without taking it off.

All the questions are answered in linked document on Apple Page in thread’s opening post:

Here's what you need

  • An Apple Watch Series 8 or Apple Watch Ultra.
  • Sleep must be set up with Track Sleep with Apple Watch enabled.
  • Sleep Focus must be enabled for at least 4 hours a night for about 5 nights.

Apple today published a new support document with additional details about the new wrist temperature sensing feature available on Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra models, and it turns out the feature requires users to wear their watch for five nights before it can detect a baseline temperature.
bad choice of words here - before it "determines" would be correct, read the Apple comment that you're quoting...

Because there's quick charging on the newer ones which means that 15-30 minutes of charging in the evening will get you through the night and 15-30 minutes of charging in the morning (while showering for example) will get you through a day (because it will still be pretty charged from that evening 15-30 minute charge).

Added bonus of that is that's very good for your battery health.
Sorry, that requires too much autonomous willpower. It's easier to pretend there are no easy solutions to easy problems.

Honest question:
If I wear the watch all day, and put it into charge before going to sleep, how can I possibly be wearing it at night?

Came here to ask this as well. I dont sleep with mine on because obviously it has to get charged at some point and a watch doesnt do me much good on a charger during the day?!

I charge it in the morning while I get ready for the day and at night while I'm getting ready for bed.

Pretty simple for me. I just charge it before I go to sleep LOL do people not do this?
I dont lol when I finally retire I just toss it on the charger with my phone ahahah I guess i'll try to switch things up as there have been several good suggestions in this thread! :)

Mostly overnight, when I'm not worried about using it
I charge it sporadically during the day as need be. Same goes for the watch. This way you can sleep with it on, should you choose to. This morning I had 56% left on the watch and it wasn't fully charged when I went to bed. It works..

Right, no big deal. Just charge it for 10 min when you shower, 10 min when you eat lunch, 10 min in a car drive home, 10 min before the gym, and last 10 min before sleep. They should actually reduce battery life for next version from 18 hours to 1.8 hours since it is so convenient to charge every 1.8 hours.

Dude, that's not at all what I'm saying. You obviously don't have an Apple Watch and think you know, when you obviously don't. Like what the f is your problem taking my comment about charging it for 2 short whiles instead of 1 long while and taking it as like I'm charging it 20 times a day?

I in the morning after I wake up put it on the charger and go about my things and put it on before I leave home that plus a quick 15 minutes before I go to bed is all the charging I do and with just that (so maybe an hour and a half of time when I wouldn't be using my watch anyway) my watch easily lasts the rest 22:30 hours of my day.

Nobody, nobody said anything about needing to find multiple times during the day at inconvenient times , it's 2 instead of just overnight, WOW what an inconvience. /s

It’s a sarcasm toward battery life of AW.

I wear it all day then around 8pm I put it on the charger. Charged by 9:30 ish and then I wear it at night. Then in the morning I take it off and charge it. Then do my morning routine and put it on when ready to go to work.

In the evening for about 20 minutes is usually plenty. Usually when showering. Also, in the morning if I want to make sure it’s not going to be borderline very low battery by end of day, but often I forget in the morning, and it’s okay. Usually. Not ideal but not as much of a hassle as I had thought for many years before getting one.
