There are a bunch of apps that do sleep tracking right now while helping you go to sleep / wake up at optimal times, but what I have yet to figure out is: if I use the watch during the day, and use it when I sleep, when am I supposed to charge it??

Too bad that 3rd party charging band fell through years ago

Get up 90 minutes before you head to work and put the watch on charge.

With Schooltime mode discovered maybe this is a hint of a low cost Apple Watch coming for kids and budget minded users?

I've been tracking my sleep with my Samsung Galaxy Fit on my iPhone 7+ and it reports a lot of info about sleep patterns, rem, deep, light and waking times along with heart rates. Sleep only uses like 5% of battery.

Their health app is quite mature and provides a lot of features from steps, workouts, calories and sleep with trends, charts and goals with rewards that are less obscure than the HealthKit app's cryptic information and app navigation.

I think if you download their app you can connect some of the data from an Apple Watch into the Samsung Health app. It asks me what source I want to choose from with steps either iPhone or Fit or both.

And with raise-to-wake turned off I only need to charge every 8-9 days. Display only dims below 5%. The screen display is the biggest battery usage second to continuous heart monitoring which will give you about 5 days of continuous readings and high pulse alerts before a charge is needed.

Am I the only one reading these blogs wondering why the hell Apple hasn’t allowed the simple feature of “delete all” for the messages app on the watch?

Should have been done a long time ago!

You are the only one. Who “deletes all?”

No one obviously....Apple hasn’t allowed for that simple and needed feature to keep storage free on the watch. I’ve heard several people talk about it but never seen it mentioned in any comments or blogs. Just saying, something simple yet overlooked by Apple.

9to5 MAC report that Sleep tracking probably doesn’t need new hardware as it uses existing sensors, so it may well be added to Series 4.

Jealous of the battery life already. I have about 20% left when I get home from work. That’s not using the watch for anything other than for notifications and charging nightly.

I’m due for an upgrade. Just so far not impressed with this years watch. Makes sense since we just had a redesign.

I like the school time feature, but we're getting soo dumb (hate to say it)... We need tech to tell us to keep out minds on our work..

We are soo consumed... it would be easy for the govenemnt to wipe us out if they wanted to.

If the Apple Watch sleep tracking is coming with this Series 5, I’ll probably buy my first Apple Watch.

Why would you sleep with the watch on your wrist? It's really uncomfortable. You'll be doing this just a few times, just to see how well you sleep :)

Would be nice if the watch could track oxygen in blood, to help diagnose sleep apnea

Considering their push into health it wouldn’t be a huge surprise for me if this actually was a reason for holding back sleep tracking.
My Series 3 will be replaced now! Going LTE this time also.

I like that some reports are you can just use a second Apple watch, lets be honest they aren't worth much when they are second hand so that could actually work quite well. I doubt I will sell mine on.

I can see millennials now stressing about their sleep tracking not being optimal and not being able to sleep..

Apple will say if this is true just charge your watch on your new pro when battery gets low

Tried tracking successfully with Autosleep. However I've found that I need to allow my wrist to breath overnight as wearing AW continuously (even with an hour or two for charging) causes skin irritation.

Have you tried different band types?

But don't Watch owners charge their devices overnight?
So if they're wearing them while sleeping as well as during the day then when will the Watch get the chance to be charged?
If the batteries lasted a few days or longer then day usage and sleep tracking would be workable.
What do you guys think?
I think that if Apple would just go ahead and change the laws of physics, then devices with the functionality of an Apple Watch would last 'a few days or longer'.

In the meantime, for anyone who eats a meal or has a shower during the day, there is already plenty of time to recharge the battery when you're not sleeping.

If you're wondering how to charge your Apple Watch at night and use sleep tracking, the official recommendation from Apple is to buy 2 Apple watches.
