I'm really disappointed that they are shipping a separate half-band at all. How many of those are going to be tossed in a drawer and never ever used? What a waste!

This comment here is proof that apple cannot please everyone. Therefore, apple should always do whatever they want.

I found most of the bands to be disappointing anyway.

The under-wrap of the sport band causes a bulge on the far side of your wrist that positions the watch off center. Doesn't look right.

The Milanese or Leather loops are both too bulky where they fold over on themselves, which looks terrible. The Milanese especially, as the bulge is adjacent to the watch face and noticed every time you look at your watch.

The link bracelet is just like every other in that it constantly pinches my arm hair, which hurts. I don't understand how men where such things, maybe electrolysis.

Oddly enough, the only strap I liked was the classic buckle. I wasn't originally interested, but it's the only comfortable strap that keeps the watch centered without odd bulges. Besides, perhaps a simple strap is exactly what I need, because it's not about the strap, it's about the watch.

Is this a good place for this?

I guess the silver lining is that the watch will fit me with out having to exchange it for a different one.

How are they convoluted?

It's a choice between two pieces on one side of the watch, depending on your wrist size. The third piece always goes on the opposite side of the wrist. That's it.

If one side is fixed, wouldn't the end of the strap be less on the opposite side for larger wrists.

If they wanted the strap connector to be at the other side then both parts of the strap would need to grow proportionally?

This actually made me laugh, as if Apple would give you spare anything. The Retina MacBook doesn't even come with an adapter even with its $1300 price tag, with the adapter being the only way to connect anything but the charger to it. Sometimes I feel like would they love to make you pay $80 for a charger by not including it in the box altogether if they could get away with it.

In all honesty, I'm surprised it even gives a spare half-band to begin with.

Shh, don't give them ideas! Nintendo has already stopped including chargers with their 3DS systems (though with them, they've used the same adapter since 2011 and I assume that they assume a good amount of the people buying new systems will already have a charger. If not that's another £5 to Nintendo).

If you've got a brand new port you want to show off you'd imagine they'd get what they could into the box to show how great this new port is.

This story has captured my curiosity...

How many other forums members have tried contacting Apple to ask for more details about the band configuration?

I've attached an example of the chat that I had this afternoon. This representative seems to understand the question perfectly and provides a clear answer: two bands = four pieces.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience. You can draw your own conclusions.

If you haven't taken the time to inquire about this yourself, I'd encourage you to do so and post your results here for the edification of the community.

Had a similar conversation in-store during my try on. Employee went off to check with someone else to be 100% sure and said four pieces.

Poorly titled article.

Article title may cause people to think that you can't change out the band on an iWatch, when it is 100% possible.

Sorry folks, but spoke with Apple this afternoon in regards to my pre-order and I was "guaranteed" that there are in fact 4 band pieces, not 3 shipping with my order. It looks like Bandswapper is actually right and I hope that macrumors, as the reputable site that I know it is, restores their good name. Or, at least call Apple themselves and confirm this fact.

The confusion about what is included in the box is now over. Apple have confirmed it only includes three pieces to make the two band sizes.

As many forum members have already found, the information being given out by Apple Customer Service in the lead up to the launch of the Apple Watch has been misleading to say the least. :(
