I've ordered a leather band from kickstarter for the basic 38mm watch. Just curious if I were to sell the white sport band on ebay what the value would be. I'm guessing around $50?

Uh why would u price it on retail? The white sport band cost 49 at apple. Why would anyone buy yours instead of going to the store?

That was my question. Didn't know retail was $49. So you're saying you can buy bands separately?

I think even $40 might be pushing it personally. I rather pay $49 for a brand new one from a retail store then a "new" one from a private seller. Maybe $30 possibly $35 at most.

Keep in mind if you buy on launch day you will likely be waiting a while for the Kickstater to be designed and manufactured. So you will be using the Sport band lowering the value even more. It may be a better option to keep it to add resale value to your :apple:Watch if you plan or may update to gen 2.

It will likely be worth a lot less with no band or a 3ed party accessory band.

Good point.

Apple are charging AU$75, so I'd pay AU$50 for one in mint condition on eBay. In fact, I'll be on eBay looking for one within a week of buying my watch with Milanese strap.

My guess is that there will be lots of band parts on ebay very soon after the release of the watch, however as been pointed out, the Retail Value is $50 US, so I wouldn't expect to pay more than 50-60% of that.

There are already a lot of sites offering a band swap scheme though ;)

Agreed. If it is close to retail, then I'd rather buy the retail one rather than the ebay/craigslist one.

Oh I see. Didn't know that. Thanks. Maybe $40 for resale then?

Good luck with that. It's an inexpensive accessory item. $20 is more like it. If it's a meaningful amount of money, you are better off not buying it rather than convincing yourself that you won't lose much.

Of course, the resale value depends on whether the sports watch ships with two complete bands or, as some have discussed here, one and a half bands (one fastener and two other sides of different lengths). If it ships with two complete bands, I'd expect to be able to pick up someone's second band for about 25% of the Apple price.

My experience with Kickstarter leads me to think you'll get your band when AW 2.0 ships. Kickstarter and expected shipping times live on two different planets.

I think he means new. I as well am not at all interested in the bands that come with the sports model. Id probably sell them as soon as I open the box.

I know what was meant, but by law once the package is open, the product is used. Just how it is and why resale will be a pittance.

This may be true, but the fact that it remains in pristine condition doesn't affect it much. Even selling it for half the price is still a pretty significant amount of money. I don't see the 'desperation' in getting $25 dollars for selling something one would never use.

personally i dont even see getting more than $30bucks for it max. you have to understand alot of people would be rather trading bands than buying it unless they want more than 1 colored band. buying from third party can sometimes cause issues. personally i nevered had a problem about it but sometimes apple warranty need proof of purchase or receipt.apple says you need to keep it in safe place just in case, since they can refuse service without pop.

ill be putting an ad on crag for buying sport bands if i liked more than 1 when i try it out on april 10th. since im not paying 50bucks for rubber bands lol.;):D

i sell few things on ebay ill break it down for you.
sell for 30bucks =pay ebay about 3-5 bucks for fees depending on your account type. shipping?maybe on you or buyer cost? freeshipping=means you wont pay for ebay shipping fees. but youll pay least 1.87 for .1-.3 oz first class usps. buyers cost? = pay ebay shipping fees least .17-.25 cents for it.

you bite shipping: 30 dollars (band) - $3-$5 bucks for fees ebay - $1.87-2.00shipping cost (no shipping fees). = so 23-25 bucks would be your profit or loss lol which ever way you look at it.

buyer bite shipping: 30 dollars (band) - $3-$5 bucks for fees ebay - .17-.25 cents shipping fees ebay. = so about 25-26 bucks would be your profit or loss.

give it or take it
you would net least 20 bucks to max 26 bucks if your item sells for $30 max.:apple:

For a band to be truly unused (if getting it the first month) you would need to buy a separate one from Apple that you have the same time as the prepackaged one arrives. Even the non kickstarter companies selling the bands say shipping in May or June. Are you gong to get that watch with sports band and let it sit on your desk unworn for a month while waiting for a cheaper band? REALY?

I've had the same band on my pebble for nearly two years...I think I'll be happy to keep the sport band on my AW

Agree. My black pebble band still looks fine after showering with it in the gym for a few years. I doubt the white apple one will look good after two years of heavy use but hope to be pleasantly surprised. I will just be getting my sports one for IN the gym and am not torn between the Apple Sport or that third party one I can get for $40 with anything I want printed on it. I am thinking of getting it with the Gyms Logo for fun.
