I know there are about a million or more threads about which Apple watch people should buy.
I was hoping for a little more input of SS and Aluminum apple watch users.

In terms of cost, the SS AW would cost me about $1120 tax in and the aluminum AW would cost me $900 tax in over 2 years with $0 upfront.

As for usage. I'm not much of a runner (for now, but will start training for a half marathon soon) but do occasionally go to the gym at work. How useful are the notifications on the AW? Do you guys find it easy to use? Like respond to text/calls/emails? I heard the the SS is considerably heavier than the aluminum version.

Lastly, does the aluminum AW fit well with business attire? A colleague of mine uses the SS and I like the finish and overall look.

Cheers

My S0 was aluminum and for the S2 I went with the SS. There is a significant difference in the weight, but once you put it on you do not notice it. You really only notice it when you hold one and then the other right away. The SS obviously looks a bit nicer for business wear, but I don't think the aluminum looks bad at all. That is more of a preference thing and I guess it depends if you are worried about the chrome lugs on leather bands matching the finish on the aluminum. The main benefit for me with the SS is the sapphire display. I bought AC+ just in case, but I have accidentally whacked this thing on a number of things and it still looks as good now as the day I bought it.

Notifications on the watch are really nice. Instantly you know if it is something important that needs responding to or if it can wait until later. Responding through the watch is really easy. Using the scribble feature works better than I anticipated. Working out with the watch is awesome and when you also use airpods with them, it really feels kind of "magical". Just start the workout on the watch and your music starts playing and the watch starts recording. All of this without any cords is just awesome.

My recommendation having owned both would be to go with the SS if your budget allows for it, the display alone is worth it.

My preference is with the stainless model. Mainly because it is easier to pair bands with and It can be dressed up anyway you so please. The sapphire display is the real seller, as it's highly scratch resistant.

As far as the main functionality with Apple Watch, fitness and communication are its strong suits. It doesn't excellent job of mirroring the iPhone in terms of notifications and the fitness capabilities are fairly accurate what the heart rate sensor.

One Thing to keep in mind, no matter if you purchase the stainless model, it doesn't necessarily hold any more value compared to the aluminum, mainly because the sports model has the exact same functionality, it's just the materials that are used on the stainless model that are more premium, but the aluminum bottle is more popular.

Thanks for your input! You make a valid point. At the end of the day the watch is the same! Going to try the SS and see how that works out.

Any bands you recommend?

I bought a stainless steel S0 and loved the way it looked. When I went to upgrade to S3, I lost such a lot of money on it that I decided it wasn’t worth it to me. I have the space grey aluminium now and love it.

I like the leather loop, Sport bands and nylon bands are very comfortable.

SS no question. I had a S2 Alum and it scratched so easy I couldn’t stand it. I now have the S3 SS and love it. I’m a runner and the weight difference is nothing. Good luck on the 1/2 coming up.

That has been my experience as well. The stainless just has A substantial weight in which I appreciate and the Sapphire display easily sells itself for those who appreciate it.
