Based on current trends for Apple Prices. Yep.
iPhone X : $999
iPhone x : £999
$999 == £740.88
20% UK VAT == £148.17
Total = £888.17 != £999!
Cheers Apple for the £111 Apple Tax!
You do know that the $ price is the pre-VAT price in America? Yes, some have a 0% but for the majority they will be adding their states rate of VAT to the $999.

I literally just bought my Series 2 less than a year ago. While the pure convenience is undeniable, unless some fool wants to give me $300+ for my watch, I'll be sitting this out.

It was Apple's plan all aong. Nickle and Dime/Milk you for all the bloodthirsty...more like Apple thirsty, customers out there.

Not a shocker that it wouldn't be compatible with the first generation Apple Watch or Series 1/Series 2. Apple wants those to upgrade to the Series 3 Apple Watch and the Airpower charging mat is one of those reasons.

That, and because they used a proprietary wireless charging solution for the series 0, 1, and 2 Apple Watches. I am guessing that the series 3 Apple Watch supports Qi wireless charging.

Yes I do, hence why i added on 20% UK VAT to the price very clearly in the post, and it still doesnt account for £111~

I don't know who's responsible for Marketing Communications, but I assume (s)he's having serious trouble with charging whatever Apple gear he has because (s)he never communicates with any of those billions of users

That’s not strictly true as you have to add sales tax in the US (changes for state to state) on top of the $999! But it’s still cheaper to buy in the US then the UK!

Shame, I would have considered this for my s0 but instead it just means Ill look at normal Qi chargers, if at all.

Save me a few quid at least.

What about the extra running costs in the UK? Any customs tax, higher shipping charges, distribution, storage etc etc...

Edit: Add devaluation of the pound, smaller market and significantly higher marketing/advertising costs here.

As a series 1 owner, this just means I don't buy the mat.

Plenty of other mats out there for so much less, I actually have 3-4 at home, I have no reason to purchase the air power mat which will be a ripoff anyway

I feel like Apple could allow series 0/1/2 but they’d rather rake more $$$ out of us. That’s fine, I just won’t buy airmat then for another 2 years when I update my series 2.

Ummmm.

Phones ship from china

Tim pays almost no tax in EU ;)

We get so much less advertising than the US

Devaluation of pound? It's not 1:1 apple is the only one doing that

You are just making things up......

If any of you said had any logic......apple in the past has been making a huge loss.....no....this is the first time apple has got this greedy. Noting in past pricing has shown any of the above to be true, it's always been inline with the exchange rate And taxes

Not surprised at all, probably only AW3 supports Qi charging (its not just simple inductive charging, requires some different hardware).

I think the pad will be 99$..although there is a healthy chance it's 129$.

The whole thing makes for a nice kickstarted project that would be the inductive puck that the AW0/1/2 require, with some Qi guts in it to let one pop it on this pad.

Hardware guys, is there any reason why they can't engineer this thing to support QI and"Apple-QI" at the same time? Or could they create a firmware update for old watches to support standard QI charging? I'm assuming doing so would break current accessories? Is this pure greed, or a practical decision?

Maybe the earlier Apple watches do not support resonant charging, required for charging multiple devices.

I have a question...

If iphone X (ten) is so good why don't apple offer a 24 month Warranty?...as samsung do?

I wouldn't pay a grand and be told after 18 months "£375out of warranty".

would YOU?

I just can't see the value of inductive charging. It's slow, it waste electricity and you can't really use the device while it charge.
