Good for customers in the US to get some relief even though it is a small amount. Don't know whether they are design issues as I have seen other models of Apple watch having detached screen due to swollen battery.
Is there a similar class action lawsuit in the UK? (Or it might be called a ... Group Litigation or GLO)Bloody annoying that this is US only. I lived in the UK and my original Apple Watch was destroyed by a swollen battery.
Same. The Series 3 I bought for my mother lasted just over a year, at which point the battery swelled and pushed the screen off the case. Apple wanted almost the cost of buying a new watch to fix it. 🫤Bloody annoying that this is US only. I lived in the UK and my original Apple Watch was destroyed by a swollen battery.
They're doing this because they have to, not out of the kindness.Bloody annoying that this is US only. I lived in the UK and my original Apple Watch was destroyed by a swollen battery.
I would differ, it is more like buying a single Mentos. But either way, it is a lot of money - just not for Apple.$20 million to Apple is like someone buying a soda pop at the gas station/convenience store.
My natural gas bill allows you to make a payment even if your balance is zero. So I always load up prepaid cards to this bill ending up with a negative account balance much of the year.I wish I did this.
I got a virtual gift card and can’t use the remaining $5.27 lol I keep trying different ways smh.
Annoying but at the same time I think $20 is a pretty nominal amount of cash as compensation.Bloody annoying that this is US only. I lived in the UK and my original Apple Watch was destroyed by a swollen battery.
Apple Watch Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3 owners had until April 10 to submit claims
But I guess the Series 0 wasn’t covered anyway…
I must have missed something, what's Masimo done that's making them come across as shifty? I think to most people who've been following this it's Apple that massively comes across as the 'shifty' party.I would not be paying Masimo a dime. That company is comping across as shifty. Plus I think this was all to bring attention to their own wearable device.
The things that annoys me about this is it essentially does nothing for Apple or the consumer but I bet some lawyer has done quite well out of it.
That is nice!Never heard of such a thing... never had an issue with mine..
Wasn’t quiet. I submitted it for repair and said to give me an estimate. They entered it into the system, got a text about picking it up, and was told it was free, all with Apple paperwork and everything.I would speculate that someone at the Apple Store was aware of the issue and quietly addressed it for you.
How were you damaged? They replaced your watch.Yeah my series 0 swole and died. Apple replaced. They knew. The lawyers screwed us over by not including us in some coverage for damages.
Good idea. Never thought of using all the stupid gift card remainders to pay utilities. They don’t care how many micropayments they get.My natural gas bill allows you to make a payment even if your balance is zero. So I always load up prepaid cards to this bill ending up with a negative account balance much of the year.
Read the article. More than just replacement. How were you damaged? They replaced your watch.
The trackpad on my Intel MBP stopped working years back and after I opened it up I saw the battery all Swoled and obviously pressing the “buttons” from the inside out. Replaced the battery, trackpad worked again.Same.
I also have an old iPod somewhere with a swollen battery. Pretty sure swollen batteries happen a lot to older consumer goods….
They didn’t leave spare room in the case for known expansion is the argument I would assume.I'm not a fan of class action lawsuits for this reason, too. It's not like Apple designed a faulty product... batteries swell. Was this an issue of Apple declining to help customers whose warranties expired, or not covering this issue under an active warranty? I'm not sure how $25 helps an individual. Really just a waste of everybody's time, except the lawyers.
Yup and they don’t care if you use the rebate card(s) for a partial payment or even more than your owed balance, thereby running a credit. Even if you moved before burning through your credit balance (unlikely for most!) the utility company would eventually cut you a check.Good idea. Never thought of using all the stupid gift card remainders to pay utilities. They don’t care how many micropayments they get.
