Which would You buy: SBSS, SBTi or Cer? Which is more scratch resistant?
Ceramic is the most scratch resistant, SBSS comes in second and I’d guess SBTi third.
As much as I love the look of the ceramic it’s hard to match with formal bands/attires and I can’t justify paying twice the price of SS.

I won’t touch a dlc bracket. I’ve heard horror stories about it scratching even ssbs watches. Ofcarse if you don’t let it touch the case etc it will be ok.

Good question. The ceramic is highly scratch resistant, but it doesn’t have DLC Coating like the space black/space black titanium have. I have not owned the ceramic, so I can’t attest to that, but I can say the space black with the ceramic coating is literally impervious to scratching against every day services. I have owned three space black Apple Watches, all of which were in mint condition, so if that tells you anything.

Scratched the first day, and during the week have many tiny abrasions from the sleeve sweatshirts!

Previously I had 2 years of steel SG, which looked after two years as new.

Titanium are the worst variant ever, they can't even be polished like steel watch...

the fabric polished the finish of the material, and the titanium structure ( brushed ) now looks different at the point of contact with the sleeve, mostly in sunlight

When you say ‘tiny abrasions’, are you also referring to the display being scratched or just the titanium casing?

In the Titanium owners thread there is a member who have polished it’s “normal” stainless steel watch with a pad specially for Titanium.

He posted that this works and his scratches were gone.

My natural titanium was getting scuffed and scratched from the sport loop plastic buckle. Kinda surprising.

Curiously my black SS got almost identical scratches like this days into me buying it. I thought the magnet band was the culprit but idk. I’m not impressed by the SS version. My Aluminum 3 lasted longer without scratches under heavier use.

The only thing that can scratch the ceramic casing is either other ceramic, sapphire or diamonds...
It's the watch less likely to scratch from Apple.

Titanium are brushed, steel polished. I'm afraid of polishing the titanium

It’s a normal ink rubber.
I also noticed your previous post about the side button making a noise compared to the SS and aluminium models.
I think it does this because the tolerance levels of making the titanium case is less because it must be a harder case to manufacture to the same tolerance as the other cases.

Space black milanese loop? If yes, that is the culprit.

My S3 was ceramic and looked as good after one year as it did when it was new. My S4 was Space Black SS and again it still looked like new after a year and just as prestine and shiny.
I have the S5 Ceramic now because I prefer the white to black and it goes with more bands than black does but scratch resistance wise, my experience is that I found the SS SB to be as durable as the ceramic. If you don't want Ceramic but need durability then the SS SB is the way to go.

I agree - my S4 SBSS is a year old and looks as good as new. The SB is an incredibly durable finish.

cramic is the most scratch resistant of all, followed by space black SS. std titanium models i see at the stores are usually scratched up. the space black titanum is not comparable to SSSB. i have seen scratched titanium SB but i am yet to see SSSB. this is my suggestion- just pick any aluminum AW wear it and see how it feels. some might not not prefer the liteness of aluminum, in which case go for stainless steel space black. or if you have money, go for ceramic. dont bother getting a std stainless or a standard titanium or titanium space black. they are not worth it.

If you prefer the natural Titanium get it. Got mine on launch. I have no scratches and no regrets. It’s beautiful. I saw one at the Apple store that was well worn from people handling it. It was highly scuffed but, not scratched. Actually I think the natural Titanium will develop a patina like the SS which is not unsightly. In the past I have had the SS and SBSS. Any watch can be scratched under the right circumstances. The SBS’s and ceramic are less prone to scratching if you’re OCD about it.
