For those that have Titanium or other Edition watches (Ceramic, Hermes etc) what has the replacement been like if you've had it replaced by Apple? For example, I'm at 79% battery health today on my s7 Titanium. I have AppleCare+ so will get it replaced. I'm fully expecting to get an S7 Titanium back. I was wondering if anyone else has had different experiences?

thanks!

I have the same watch, it's at 83% last time I checked and AC+ runs out early December. I expect that at the time mine is ready for battery replacement I'll get the same model

They will replace it with the same model. It will be like new.
You're right - checked the serial number and it is the exact same one. Like I said, entirely expected this, but was wondering if anyone had other experiences just out of curiosity really!

Mine was at 80% from Dec 2023 till June 2024! so about 6 months... but others have had different experiences. You can extend Applecare+ though when it ends for you.

I was about to post the same. My watch has been on 80% for 3 months.

My S7 titanium is at 80%. I tried to get the battery replaced by trying to pay the $99 battery replacement fee. Both my local Apple Store and Apple Care rep said that there’s nothing they can do, because it’s not yet at 79%.

Then with a straight face, the told me that it’s wasteful to replace batteries >= 80% capacity, only to offer me a brand new S9 for sale.

This is my last Apple Watch. The company has literally taken on a hardline stance where they’d prefer that an existing customer their watch run out of battery on an almost daily basis. All of them can go to hell. Complete waste of my time.

This thread is more about the Edition replacement experience, so I can appreciate the difference between this and the standard battery replacement threads.

I recently sent in a Ceramic Series 5 Edition watch, and while they bill you the full retail price of the watch (over $1500 in the case of the 44mm Ceramic), the replacement was very fast.

You can opt for the express replacement men service, as long as your battery meets their controversial 79% or less requirement, and they will send your replacement device first. Ironically, my watch also hung at 80%/81% for over a year, before finally dropping another few percent in a few months.

They did indeed send me a new-old-stock device. It comes in their generic packaging, but it is not a refurbished model as far as I can tell. When they receive my old device in as-discussed condition, the charge on my card dropped off.

I also have not set it up as I'm debating letting the next owner experience that, so I can't speak for the device's battery health percentage. Even new, a Series 5 watch is almost 5 years old.

I was pleased with the Edition service. Their requirement for 79% is indeed another story.

Also had my ceramic s5 replaced due to battery rundown - quick and easy. The replacement I've had about a year now and it's at 89% health. But if I do a decently long workout it barely survives to bedtime. I have never been a fan of non-ceramic AWs - had gen2 and gen3s and they are just indestructible. But the 5 is getting pretty long in the tooth now and I guess I'd be open to a black ultra if it appears.
