Surely Apple could just block the oxygen sensor when you register the device in a region where it shouldn't be allowed?

I have had it since the series 6 as well but really did not use it either my decision was really based on how the natural titanium appears to show scratches less than what the black titanium was showing on the Reddit posts.Blocking the sensor depends on when the watch was imported into the US.
Presumably your watch was from stock which came in prior to the injunction, and thus would retain the functionality. Sort of surprising Costco still had some since that was January.
Edit - I will be curious to hear what actionable information you gain from having the blood ox sensor. I've had it since series 6 and haven't found it to be anything more than a curiosity.
I got my watch from costco as well. Did the Costco in your area gave you a discount? I got mine for $100.00 less (CAD) than the sticker price. I think the store is trying to clear out "old" inventory to make room for the black Ti U2.(Photo removed to save space)
Thank you everyone for your recommendations. After seeing both colors in person at my local Costco I decided on the natural titanium with oxygen sensor. The black titanium is nice but after seeing the Reddit posts of how the black titanium looks scratched it made my decision easier. Also with Costco it has a great 90 day return with no questions asked so if I decide to change my mind it would be very easy to return the watch.
No discount I wish but they also had the black titanium for the same price. I will keep checking to see if it goes on sale for the next 90 days. I will just return my watch and purchase another at the discounted price.I got my watch from costco as well. Did the Costco in your area gave you a discount? All (not some) of the Series 10 and Ultra 2 Black sold in the U.S. will have the SpO2 sensor disabled. The only way to buy a new watch with it enabled right now would be to find somebody selling an S9 or earlier that was imported prior to the ban being put into effect. Some of the new natural titanium watches have the 02 sensor disabled as well. Just bought the natural plus new navy band from Best Buy and the 02 sensor is disabled like the black model.
Some of the Reddit posters have backtracked and reported that the “scratches” were in fact material transfer from what the watch banged into. They could clean the “scratches” off.I have had it since the series 6 as well but really did not use it either my decision was really based on how the natural titanium appears to show scratches less than what the black titanium was showing on the Reddit posts.
Mine was delivered today as well. I took advantage and will not need to upgrade for another 4 years.I received my Costco ultra 2 today with blood oxygen enabled. They still have some in stock if anyone is interested.
