Upgraded from an early Ultra Watch 2 that did the Blood Oxygen test and displayed results on the watch to an Ultra Watch 3. The cludge work around from the patent dispute is the test result now displays on the iPhone in the Health App. Not a deal breaker but certainly. less convenient.

I do like the slightly larger display which allows me to actually read information in the small print for the watch face I use.

I can continue to use the stainless Milanese watch band from my Ultra Watch 1. I have had a new spare one in the drawer for over a year as I learned how to protect the magnetic closure of the watch without damage like I did to the very first Milanese bracelet. Expensive lesson.......

Ah the Ultra: something I very much want but absolutely don’t need.
Perhaps the Ultra 4 will change that.

The fallacy of any Apple Watch is the battery. A few years out and it becomes an issue, For most battery watches, the value decreases over time....

My Rolex Oyster Perpetual "Pepsi" model from 1967 works just fine. It has had a few cleanings and glass replacements since 1967, but the case and internals are all original. Original cost of that Rolex was $375 new. It is worth over $5,000 now.

Sad to say my discounted to $720 Ultra Watch 2 (because of my military discount) was worth only $285 trade in value against the military discounted price of around $720 for the Ultra Watch 3. Taxes and Apple Care are not included in these numbers.

If one thinks seriously about all of the Apple products since day one, very few if any can operate today as they were intended to be used as the operating systems and relevant software are obsolete and probably unattainable.

So my G4 Cube (Power Mac 5,1) can power on and the fan will run, but there is no ADB bus wire today for networking and the WiFi card is unaware of WiFi 7. A beautiful design that had less than a year of useful life as I remember (July 2000 to February 2001 and discontinued July 2001) I think the cost with max memory and drive size crowded $2,400 then in those dollars that included two sphere speakers, keyboard and mouse.

Apple products are, sadly, "expense" items, not "appreciating assets".

Even the upcoming Ultra 4 is no reason to upgrade from my Ultra 1. Sure, I've lost a little battery life but it remains such a fast charge to full it doesn't matter.

No scratches on my Ultra 1 and I'm an industrial skilled tradesman.... I'll keep my Ultra Gen 1 until it dies.... And that's that only sane thing to do with your discretionary income..... No reason to upgrade frequently for smartphone or devices anymore.

For iPhones yes, for watches no.
