I created a mockup of what the updated Ultra 3 with its leaked screen size (422 x 514) would look like on the current Ultra face (410 x 502) body. This is pixel-accurate, so unless Apple changes the body drastically, it should look like this. I think it's a nice decrease in bezel size.

slight reduction in bezel width, not sure how noticeable it will be day-to-day.
Certainly not a "feature" that I'd call a must have

But, the Ultra needs a larger bezel for the rated eater resistance up to 100m, lots of pressure down there

My absolute favorite watch face that I am so excited to get back to on the Ultra 3, I currently have a Series 10, is the Modular Ultra watch face. With the smaller bezels will look even better!

Resolution doesn't tell the whole story. It also depends on the size of the pixels (the dot pitch).

The new mockup is only accurate if we assume the pixels on the new screen will be the same size as those on the old screen.

For example, if Apple slightly enlarges the new screen's pixels (and it's new hardware - so it could have a different dot pitch) there may be no bezel at all.

I’m debating switching from an AW 8 since they brought back blood oxygen measurement. I had heard about the possibly improved bezel and was hoping for more. Thanks for the mockup, now I know to keep my expectations low. 🫤

This is why this forum is really good, that's because of the explanations and illustrations posted by its members. Seeing this comparison illustration of the Ultra 2 and 3, I must say there is not much for me to trade in my Ultra 2 for an Ultra 3.

Absolutely agree, I'm keeping the Ultra 2..

For us it looks like watches are now on the same 2 yearly cycle upgrade path with the iPhone.

To upgrade every year now with such small improvements is just a waste of your hard earned cash

The days of significant yearly upgrades from this company are well and truelly gone for good.

Hoping Ultra 3 will be slimmer (not so chunky) or lighter - coming from S9.
Maybe slightly slimmer, but again would you really notice it

The Ultra is supposed to the 'rugged' 'chunky' watch to bare all the extreme elements and withstand knocks.

Making it thinner by a great % is presumably defeating the point of it being made like that.

Yah, I agree with you but I was hoping it wouldn't be too large, heavy and off putting on my thin wrist.

Maybe the correct strap might work ?

Definitely wanting the satellite SOS feature and 5G since I travel to remote areas for fly fishing...

I'd say maybe even 3 years. I think it's foolish to upgrade every year, although if you can get good re-sale for the older device then that goes some way to offsetting the costs. Or if you just don't care about the cost then of course, go nuts.

Looks like an extremely minor difference. If it was combined with a weight reduction I’d pounce, otherwise sticking with my AWU1 for another year. There hasn’t even been a processor upgrade.

Ordered Ultra 3 in black with black AL plus a Terra Cotta AL strap.
Still unsure if the 17 PM I get will be orange but if I do choose that the Terra Cotta AL will compliment it.

Also, will be selling my natural U2 but might move on my Slate S10 as well.
I usually go with two watches, one to sleep track. But the S10 obviously hasn't got the hypertension detection.....

EDIT: As the S10 WILL have hypertension detection, I will keep it for sleep duties and the occasional day wear.

I have small wrists and the strap made all the difference. I opted for the Milanese on my awu2 and not only was it the most comfortable strap, it actually made the whole watch feel smaller and lighter. So much so that I am trading in my awu1 and gong for a u3 in natural with the matching Milanese.

You might want to go to an Apple Store and try the Milanese combo, that just may be what gets you hooked!

S10 chip in the Ultra 3?
Vs S9 chip in Ultra 1 and Ultra 2?

But indeed - looking at the comparisons, there's not much. I hadn't appreciated that the Ultra 1 and Ultra 2 are also getting new features like Hypertension notifications.

Yeah, happy to find that out. Keeping the S10 for sleep duty then. 👍🏻
You bring up a possible issue I haven’t thought of. Is the Ultra annoying to sleep with? Perhaps I won’t trade in my AW 8 so I can sleep with it?

Not sure the 3 is worth it over the 2, but I'm upgrading from the OG so its worth it to me for the battery boost. My Ultra1 is down to 79%.

Staying with the natural Ti as I already have a Ti link band, and ordered the Ti apple band with it. My Ultra 1 has help up great - barely any wear at all and I wear it 95% of the time. I love the look of the black but no way it wouldn't get scratched in my use scenario.
