For those who bought an Apple Watch Ultra (the original model), I'm curious when you bought it and what your current battery health is.

Up until a few days ago or up to a week, my battery health was indicated at 100%. I checked today and it's at 98%. I bought my Watch end of September 2022.

Yeah I was mildly disappointed how it could go from 100 down to 98 in 7 days or so. I’m pretty sure last time I checked was just around a week ago and it indicated 100. What happened to 99? lol. Sigh.

Also optimized charge limit is turned on. I think since updating to latest watchOS, the Watch is re-figuring my habits so it’s been charging to 100% again. For a long time, it was only charging to 80% which makes sense.

Battery degradation is not linear, and the watch estimates should be viewed as indicative.

100% on mine, got a few weeks after launch. I use mine fully with lots of workouts and a lot on cellular so I tax the battery quite hard. Charge it before I got to bed every night. I'm very pleased with that!

Got mine November 7 2022 and battery health is at 98%. Use it every day including for sleep tracking and workouts.

Nice. I primarily use mine for running and listening to podcasts while running, but otherwise it's on my wrist unless I'm sleeping but I don't heavily use it except on runs.

Day one purchase and my ultra had 97%. The recent forward update have more to do with the battery life over the battery actually aging. The battery dream is noticeable with the new os.

So at Day 1 your ultra was already at 97% battery health? :(

That charge to 100% was probably enough to do a small/slight recalibration.

Not calibrating shouldn’t hurt the battery cells, however, as you’ve noticed, reporting accuracy suffers causing jumps/skips. Lack of calibration is also typically the cause of problems such as:

With that said, even with regular calibration, the charge state can’t be perfectly measured (i.e., it’s always best estimate).

Glad I posted this. Learned a lot about the watch and charging. Macrumors is so helpful unlike reddit. On Reddit Tons of pictures of the exact same thing people on there own lol. Steamdeck subreddit it’s just people posting their Steamdeck in social situations where it’s awkward to use. Tesla forums post their I got my car post which is the same car everyone there owns.

Damn I’ve been an MR member since college in early 2000s. Before the iPhone and MacBook Pro!
