In the pre-availability promotions for the Apple Watch Ultra, it was advertised to have satellite availability for emergency use when you were out of cell coverage.

Now, that isn't the case. It is only available for iPhone 14.

Disappointed, it was one of the reasons I purchased the Ultra.

It is still a great watch otherwise.

No, Apple never claimed that the Ultra had any sort of satellite connectivity for messaging.

That didn’t happen.

Where did they say this? I'll be very interested to see it. However, I have to say, I think you are mistaken.

Here is an article talking about the ultra's satellite feature prior to launch (Sept 9th), therefore does this count as 'pre-promotion'?

The article was written 2 days prior to pre-order date (Sept 9th). Thus anyone reading this could have assumed that the emergency sos satellite feature would be available pre-order.

There is absolutely no mention of the Ultra's supposed satellite feature. Where are you reading that?

Yes, obviously, I have read your post. And everyone here who has read it have all come to the same conclusion, apart from you, that there is zero mention of it having that function.

No where does it say that the Apple Watch Ultra has satellite capability. It doesn't imply it, it doesn't suggest it. There is nothing at all about it having that feature. I would suggest, respectfully, that you maybe re-read your own post.

Yup. However, I have a feeling I won’t be receiving an apology for his somewhat patronising and rude post directed towards me. I won’t be holding my breath.

No, sorry.

1) That's an NBC piece, not an Apple piece. That's not Apple promotional material.
2) The sentence structure is poor but it's a North American based news article, it's never going to be stellar. It should have been worded better and I can see how it could have been misinterpreted, but a misinterpretation is just that.

Yup, misread the article. Basically read into the article more than it actually said. There wasn't the tiniest bit of doubt about what the article was saying? If the Ultra Watch was going to have satellite messaging capability, there would have been hundreds of articles touting this, it would have been huge.

These news articles on basically anything get the facts wrong. Have misspelling’s grammatical errors etc. To find the features on any Apple device just go to the source. Apple.com or the Apple Store app.

You are blaming Apple for a news outlet's poor use of grammar?

It's pretty obvious from the headline alone that the satellite messaging feature applied only to the iPhone 14 and not the Apple Watch. Though if I wanted to be absolutely clear, I would probably write - Apple unveils new iPhone 14 with emergency satellite messaging and ultra Apple Watch, just to be clear that said feature applied only to the phone.

About a month ago I read something and thought, wow, pretty cool the ultra will tell the phone to call and the phone will be able to use satellite.

Pretty clear that the iphone 14 has this feature and the watch does not by utilizing reading comprehension. I didn't know the 14 got that feature though, good to know.

Does the iPhone 14 Pro have this feature now ?
