Why did you upgrade to the Ultra? (Select ALL That Apply)

There are four reasons why I got it: I prefer to exercise outside, I needed more durable materials for my watch, I love the look and size for my wrist, and the battery life.

The poll lacks the option "use it while diving". That is my only reason for upgrading.

Now when is the Oceanic+ app going to launch... ?
That option would be "exclusive fitness features" since diving's not the only one and I don't want to list every feature, making a long list of options that much longer...

I just placed my order for the Ultra with the White Ocean Band, I liked how it looked paired together at the Apple Store last night. I am far from the target buyer, but I love how its just a all new design, bigger screen, and better battery life. Plus for a while, it will be cool wearing a Apple Watch that not everyone else right now is rocking.

Sucks that I have to wait till the week of November 2nd lol

Debating on if I will keep my Series 7 SS or sell it, Maybe keep the Series 7 for dressier looks but not sure yet.

Wow, when I pre-ordered mine back on the day it was announced, I got a September 23rd delivery date, which it stayed like that for a few days before starting to slip into October! It's crazy to see how, all of a sudden, people are either warming up to the Ultra and giving it a try or just want to get an Apple Watch and figured "Hey, for only $50 more, I can get all of these extra features than the stainless steel!" Either way, it looks as though the Ultra's gained quite the momentum!

P.S. That's the combo I got, by the way. Here's how it looks:

I just wanted to wait until I saw it in person and had a chance to try it on. I never worried when upgrading my SS Apple Watches because it was always the same form factor, but I had to see this new design in person, and try it on. The one I tried on had the white band which I really liked the look of it.

I am excited but just hate the long wait lol. I always get my Apple Products on launch day, but this new design I just had to wait till I could see it in real life lol.

Ok, but while I do use the watch for fitness tracking (walking, cycling, gym), I don't consider scuba diving being an "exercise".

On the other hand, I always had to remove my old Apple Watch while diving, and at the end of the day it was really difficult to fill my activity ring. The watch thought I had been asleep for much of the day. Now, when diving with the Ultra, the watch think I spend plenty of calories while floating around slowly under water for an hour, barely moving... Nice, but I wonder how the calories are calculated for scuba...

Keep checking the store - if they get the one you want in, go get it and cancel the order. Turns out I could have done that but my delivery date moved up and I only had to wait the weekend to get mine. Figured I could wait 3 days.

I've noticed that with my Ultra, too: when using my Series 7, I would get about double the calories burned versus what my Ultra shows from swimming. Bug or better sensor, I wonder... 🤔

I had an Apple Watch 'til about 2017, but they always felt small to me (wrist: 7.5 inches). Most recently, I've had Garmins, because I like big/chunky and the amount of fitness/health data the Garmins could produce. But I was always ready to come back to Apple. And The Ultra delivers exactly what I want. Well, almost. I'd take an Ultra "Max" that's 51MM or 52MM in an instant.

My Series 5 isn’t worth much in resale value so I’ve decided to keep it just for that purpose.

I have to say the white Ocean band looks very nice especially with that watch face. I would be concerned about how dirty it will get and how easy it is to clean.

My White Sport band has held up well and ive had it over a few watch generations, so hopefully it stays as nice as this one has

If you are near a store - you might check there to see what deliveries the store gets during the week - there are both the white ocean band version and the yellow available today in St. Louis according to the website for example

great combo!

the ocean band is my favorite of the two Ultra band types I saw (the orange buckle one).
Yeah, I'm a sucker for white (which is why I bought the Series 2 and 3 Editions) since it's my 3rd favorite color (behind silver and gold)! I just love how sharp this pure white looks and, coupled with the fact that it's hands down the easiest to clean of the 3 different bands that can come with the Ultra, it was a no-brainer for me to get this combo! 👍

Smart man. I wish more people had this level of restraint.

Actually I checked a few times today, and all the sudden the Ultra with White Ocean Band (The one I wanted) showed available, so I secured it for pick up tonight and cancelled my other order :)

I love my AWU. I have had a series 0 - both aluminum and SS, a SBSS series 2, a space gray series 4, a space gray series 6 and now the Ultra.

Before getting the Ultra I had both my series 4 and series 6. I wore the 6 for most things and kept the 4 for sleep and working in the yard. Now I gave the 4 to my son and use the 6 for sleep and yard work.

I was pretty sure I was going to upgrade this year as I was having a really hard time resisting the screen on the series 7, especially after I got the wife a 7 for Christmas.

I actually preordered both a series 8 and an Ultra. I went with the Ultra because I can see the screen better, especially when outside. My eyes aren't what they used to be. I like the extra loudness because my hearing is worse than my eyesight, lol. I appreciate the extra battery and fitness features as I run marathons and workout several times a week.

I'm with you on this one. The Ultra is a winner. It doesn't even feel big to me, but the increased size is such a game changer for the experience. Truly an amazing product. I'm glad I upgraded.

I upgraded because Apple finally made a watch that I can use in the ocean for SCUBA, swimming, kayaking, and sailing. Up until the Ultra, I always used a different, more water resistant watch for my water activities. Since getting the Ultra, I have been using it in the ocean and tracking my workouts. I love it.
