I have AOD set to on. Every single night when I turn on my sleep focus, the screen isn’t turning off, but the watch is showing that the sleep focus is engaged. I get the icon at the top of the Watch screen and the sleep focus icon shows on in the control center. It is only when I force restart the Watch that the Watch screen finally decides to acknowledge the sleep focus. Phone is working fine in this regard.

This is every night and it started maybe a couple weeks ago. Anyone have any suggestions, short of unpairing the Watch? Thanks.

do you have "sleep screen" turned on in the "Customize screen" section? I do and my Ultra and my S7 turn the screen off all the time when I turn sleep focus on.

Yes, forgot to mention. I checked that setting last night and it was on. Thanks.

Funny because this issue fixes itself when I do a forced restart of the Watch. It’s getting annoying lol. This only happens at bed time for some odd reason. Just turned on sleep focus for kicks and giggles and sure enough it turned the screen off 🤦‍♂️

Are you activating the Sleep focus manually from the menu or are you using Siri shortcut? Shortcuts sometimes seem to have issues turning off the watch screen when with Sleep focus is activated.

I haven’t used a shortcut for this. It’s either automatically per my sleep schedule in health or manually if I go to bed earlier. Both ways aren’t functioning. I tried toggling sleep focus off and on and it doesn’t help.

I pretty much do mine manually all the time and as I said, hasn't failed me yet.
is your focus set on the AW or on the phone? mine is setup on the phone and on the AW I have "mirror my iPhone" turned on.
are you interacting with your phone during the timeframe?

the only other suggestion I have is to delete and re-create the focus

Yes, it’s set up on the phone with mirror phone enabled on the watch. I believe I am interacting with the phone at the time but I don’t remember this being an issue before. This only started about two weeks ago. I’m currently on 16.5 and 9.5 respectively with a 14 P and Ultra. I was going to try that next (deleting and re-creating the focus). A bit of PITA since I have certain people and apps that can break through the focus but much better than unpairing. Thanks for your help.

Yeah no worries lol. I’m not expecting you or anyone to go out of their way but I do appreciate the gesture.

I just deleted and re-created the sleep focus so hopefully that takes care of it.

so yesterday I put my S7 on for sleep tracking (charging the Ultra overnight) and I fell asleep without turning sleep on manually. woke up during the night and the S7 was on, showing my regular watch face, then I swiped up, sleep mode was on, so it disabled snd immediately turned it back on, and within 30 sec or so the screen turned off.
latest iOS/watchOS versions, so not sure what the cause for this is...

Thanks for the heads up. Yeah that’s pretty much what I’m experiencing. Gotta see if my screen goes black after 30 sec. I been force restarting it instead. It works fine when I manually set the sleep focus but not automatically and wanted to check in here if it was just me or not. Gonna report this bug to Apple. I’m like 99% sure this was happening to me before I updated to 16.5 and 9.5 though.

Funny thing is, I haven’t tested since I re-created the Sleep Focus. Been on vacation from work this week and didn’t want to screw with my Sleep schedule in Health so been manually setting it. I work a midnight shift and my sleep schedule is vastly different when I’m working or off from work. I’m assuming since you’re getting it too, it wasn’t fixed on my end.
