My biggest challenge since buying the Ultra is figuring out a "re-charge rhythm". It was easy before, with my Apple Watch 6. It would get to a low battery state around bed time.. Easy. I'd charge while sleeping.

But now, my AW Ultra battery lasts long enough, where I like using sleep tracking - I wake up and it will keep going the entire next day and into the following sleep cycle... and through the next morning... I charge it somewhere during the day for a bit and the Ultra lasts another few days - two sleep cycles - or somewhere in-between.

We're all creatures of habit - the Ultra is throwing me a re-charge curve ball. A charging conundrum. There is no regularity to it. It goes until it can't and I need to squeeze in a charge during "non-charge spaces/places".

Fast charge helps... but I don't like the Apple charge pucks - I prefer stands that are easy to park the watch onto. I think I need to find fast charger stands that works on the fly. I guess my point is - given all of the monitoring capability in these watches - and improved battery life - it's harder to find "natural recharging breaks" at the same time and in the same place every day.

This is why I think people who demand more battery life are barking up the wrong tree. Most people just need the battery to last a little over a day. Sure, some people might have usage patterns that require longer battery life, but for most people, charging once a day is the easy way to set up a regular charging schedule.

Why not charge your watch every night at the same time (an hour before bed)? Even if the watch still has a lot of battery left, it won't hurt to charge it to full and removing from the charger.

Exactly what I was thinking about too.

My Ultra lasts me normally 4 days. I don’t use the LTE connection, and I turn it off at nights. I charge on the 4th morning. The advantage to me of only charging every 4 days is the longevity of the battery- less charge cycles means it won’t degrade as fast

Can't offer Ultra-specific advice, but with my series 7 I put it on the charger in the morning while getting ready (~30 minutes to top it up after sleep tracking) and again at night to fully charge (~1 hour before bed while I'm winding down). Haven't noticed any major battery deterioration from this habit in either my previous series 4 or my current watch. I can still get through 2 full days on a full charge when needed.

Even with the Ultra, that might be a good pattern - or just one of the two. Top it up once per day, and only worry about charging to full or multi-day usage if you're heading into a situation where you need that capability.

As far as chargers, I put my OEM puck in a 3D printed stand that also accommodates my AirPods. You might be able to do something similar if you or a friend has a 3D printer. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5566618
I've found 3D printed stands to be a better solution than anything off the store shelf.

I do more or less what Tdude96 said in mornings about every other day. Rarely need to top it up and don’t do the night time charge.
