Chill. No one said Apple should remove the existing smaller size choices. And WTF does gender identity have to do with it? USA humans M/F/LGBTQ have all been getting physically larger for 100+ years. We should be building things accordingly. Just my $0.02.
She didn't bring up gender identity. She also noted the average height of males and females in different countries. I'm 5'11" and modern countertops are perfect for me. I'm in my mid 40s and hopefully live at least another 20 years. If we we're "building things accordingly" my next home could have countertops too high for me and most people. If subsequent generations are growing up taller then we should adjust height when the majority of people average that height.

Yet there are very popular watches that are much, much bigger than the Ultra. Almost as if this is personal opinion.
Its almost as if I'm allowed to state my opinion on a public forum as long as I'm not in violation of the terms of service. Good day :)

You missed every single point in my post you quoted. Then you'd have realized that I never even referred to gender identity.

I never denied that everyone has been getting physically larger over time. Available data on current average heights, as provided in the source I included, still counter your claim that things should be please adjusted to fit "my siblings and I [who] are all ~6'".

I further assume you're cis-male, so of course you don't even begin to understand the point I was making that there IS a bias in who basically everything is designed for, because you're not living it. That's an actual fact:

And if you don't like medium, here's a link from Harvard:

And it's a fact that AFAB people are - on average - physically very different from AMAB people.

Good perspective! Would the ultra provide you anything you need that the 8 does not?
Hi there! Well the ultra would be certainly more rugged and the longer battery life would help when traversing between backcountry huts and solar power generators. I also like the prospect of being able to use it as a dive computer though I would need to do additional research on this.

The best feature for my use case is be ä the updated compass and Nav which the 8 also has. I like the idea of a more convenient way for placing waypoints. With the ultra it would probably be a few meters more accurate due to better GPS.

However, I would only use those waypoint markers for non-essential stuff and convenience. For doing work with GPS waypoints I wont be able to get around a Garmin handheld.

So yeah, overall

- ultra is more rugged
- better battery
- perhaps a nice dive computer
- convenient for doing non-essential waypoints (quick and dirty pathfinding but for work I need the accuracy and versatility of a Garmin GPSMap

Hope that helps!

Yes!!!! It will be an instant buy for me. So ready to pull the trigger on that 50mm Apple Watch Ultra.
I had ordered one and returned it before even opening it. I was so afraid it would be too large for my wrists. It looks like a great watch! I think I'd have to go all green and "Hulk" to were one!:p

I highly doubt anyone has looked at their AW Ultra and thought ”…Man I wish this thing was bigger” They already look comically big as it is now.
You don´t understand. We are talking about reducing the bezels. Same overall size.

Well, coming from a 51mm Garmin tactix delta and with large-ish wrists, I have! But I’d be surprised if Apple were to go in that direction….

Why would apple increase the Ultra to make it larger? Bad move Apple, would look ridiculous. I'm a big person, and I own a ultra. It's borderline big now.
Unless you are have very large wrist, and a very large person then maybe. Nothing against them, but the average person, no! The current size for the average person, just barely works. But bigger? Very small market to sell something larger. Need to make a smaller version for the average person first. Who are these individual that work for Apple, that would even think that crazy?

They could make the screen larger without increasing the casing size.

Of course. People is talking nonsenses. Just a display with no or much thinner bezels. If the make that this year, for sure I will upgrade my Ultra. Even if the rest of specs are the same.

The problem here isn’t “the AW size for the average person,” the problem here is the average person buying a device that isn’t for the average person. Complaining about how odd the AW looks on the wrist is like buying the most powerful Mac Apple has to offer and then complaining about the difficulty in dragging it and a monitor and keyboard and mouse onto the bus for your daily commute. Joe mountain climber or Jane Olympic swimmer is looking for function first not fit.

Again, I don´t agree. I have never used a single function for sports in my Ultra. Simply, the battery and the much improved sound are enough to choose the Ultra over the "Standard".

Extra battery life and a more powerful sound are very much than extra functions provided by a larger watch. Again, most complaints about size of the AWU don’t make sense imho. Or they are overlooking certain laws of physics.

AWU is designed for (fill in the blank) extra function that the AW8 packaging can’t do as-is.

If the AWU is too big for someone, then it’s not the right option.

I hope once the Apple Watch gets a new generation of CPU that Apple can offer the ultra in two sizes - a smaller one and a larger one and get the longer battery life on both.
