Apple Watch unlock unusable

I had the issue with apple watch unlock since i was using it with the MBP 15 2018.
Especially in clamshell mode its for me very important to avoid typing the password all the time.

The problem is that if this feature is activated the wifi tx rate will drop after a while to 13Mbps or 27Mbps. The wifi speed will be reduced drastically and even if the tx-rate can go up for a few secs it will lock down to 13/27Mbps immediately after downloading/streaming anything.

If i disable and (re) enable wifi everything is back to normal. Tx Rate is about 975-1xxxMbps and internet speed about 800Mbits (1gbit connection). After 30-120min the tx rate lock up again at 13/27Mbps.

If apple watch unlock is disabled the wifi is stable....


Now with my brand new MBP 16 i have the same issue (independent from the wifi AP) and im just wondering why there is no "watchunlockGate" or sth. Since years this problem exist but you can just find a few threads about this topic...
Why is this problem not present? Does nobody use this feature?

I for one just gave up using the feature after giving up on apple ever fixing it..

Here just an example if the tx rate lock occurs:

after cycle wifi (turn off/on)

yes, that's about the sort of behaviour I was experiencing.

I don't know if its a coincidence but since hours the wifi is stable with Big Sur and apple watch unlock. This would mean the problem is finally fixed after 2 years... but ofc i should have more testing...

Fairly sure it's not been fixed, I just had a tx rate of 14 this morning. Turned back off for now.

Until now i had sometimes the impression its slower as it should be but i didn't had the tx rate lock as in the screenshot yet. it seems to be at least different now.
i will test now for a while...

I really thought they could finally fix it somehow but today morning i had a tx-rate lock with 27Mbps again with big sur beta.
