Is Apple Watch better than Fitbit for activity tracking and route tracking for long distance runs and hikes? Which is the better device for these uses?

I’m voting for Apple Watch. One of my runner friend is on her 6th Fitbit replacement within a year. In terms of distance tracking I think both are equal. Apple Watch is better in tracking heart rate / calories burnt etc.

If you have an iPhone Apple Watch hands down wipes the floor Fitbit can’t even walk anymore.

If you have Android Apple Watch won’t work and Fitbit is your best option.

I switched from Fitbit to Apple Watch last year. I was a bit confused at first as the logic is different but in the end I got used to it. Everything is displayed nicely and I do a little walk of 13 km each day, I find it more usable than my Fitbit. I feel more committed to closing my rings now than previously with my Fitbit, weirdly and the Watch helped me lose some weight. I deleted all my data by contacting them when I heard Google bought them.

Only problem you should be aware: you need to charge it every day. I adopted the following routine: charging from 8pm to 10:30pm, sleep with AutoSleep from 10:30pm to 7am, use it all day until 8pm with a 2h30min workout in the afternoon. At 8pm I have depending of the day between 20 to 33% of battery left.
