Guys - wondering if anyone is as torn as I am.

I have been wearing an Apple Watch since the day it was first released. I generally love wearing it and use it mostly for notifications and fitness.

I purchased the Apple Watch 3 recently and for the first time got the stainless steel model and a bunch of nice bands.

That got me interested in really nice watches and eventually led me to buy one which I think looks awesome on the wrist... generally way better than any Apple Watch.

But I am torn.

I miss the watch and not having to worry about where I leave my phone.

On the other hand, like I said... a really nice timepiece is way sexier then the Apple Watch.

Anyone in the same boat? How do you deal?

I know, I know... first world problems.

Apple watch really is an electronic tool not a real watch.
What are you calling a real nice watch?
I wouldn't trade my Seamaster as it my real watch.
The apple watch is just a tool i use.

I agree. But my problem is I always want both and can’t decide which haha

Nice watch: a Speedy and Rolex Explorer ii

After two+ years of wearing my Apple Watch daily, I can’t imagine going back to a mechanical watch. I have several very nice, expensive watches sitting unused, but the functionality of my Apple Watch makes it my preferred daily option.

I agree. The Apple Watch is more of a multi tool and It can't really be compared to mechanical watch, as they serve two different purposes. But the Apple Watch is something that I find useful every single day for different tasks that I can use it for. As my mechanical watches, I can rotate whenever I want to for a really nice occasion. My Apple Watches See way more
usage.

I have a box of rolexes. They’d be collecting dust if they weren’t on a watch winder.

I, at last turned my watch winder off. Have not wore either of my Rolex for over a year. Might as well allow them to sleep in their boxes the were purchased in. It is sad but just not feeling it for a mechanical watch any more.

I sold my Seamaster and haven't looked back. I tried both wrists but that's not ideal. And I never want to take my Apple Watch off because I want it to track all of my fitness stats. To pay homage to the Omega, I've named my Apple Watch "Seamaster" though. Not quite the same thing but at least it's a connection to what I used to have.

I have wore watches since I was 12 yrs old (71 now). My mechanical watches have sat in the drawer since I purchased the SS series 0 2.5 yrs ago. Don’t miss them at all. Picked up a SS series 3 recently. I love that I can interact with the Apple Watch where all I can do is look at my mechanical watches.

I've also worn watches since I was a little kid - but wealth has never been something on my side. So it was cheap Timex watches from Sears growing up with the "glo" features while all my friends had those ultra shock watches that looked so cool. When I got into high school I got a Swiss Army watch for $250 - but that thing went through batteries every handful of months. That and after high school my weight ballooned so having to change the links got old. So I stopped wearing watches for a handful of years until I got married - wife bought me a nice Fossil watch.

Always thought these digital Apple/Android watches were silly - especially because they only lasted a day. I'd laugh at people dropping $300 on Apple watches and watch my coworkers buy Android watches only to toss them a few months later because they couldn't stand them.

Then my wife and I got Fitbits (non-gps) a few years ago - found them fun, not very accurate, but got us off our butts. But had a love-hate relationship. Bands broke within months, batteries didn't last long, and the app could never get my sleep right.

We tried running with our phones but running with an 8+ was just not going to happen.

So we picked up Apple watches (AW3 GPS) over the weekend and wow... just wow... They are amazing. We don't need to bring my phone with us to exercise and we can still use Strava (though going to just use the Activity app now). Sleep detection with AutoSleep is 100% rock on. My wife and I burned more calories Sunday than we have in our entire lives and we're making super healthy decisions for the first time in our marriage (6 years).

These watches are amazing. Can't believe I used to think they were silly.

I still think a mechanical watch is amazing. My watch face is Utility because I like the mechanical arms and the second hand. But I don't think I could ever go back to a mechanical watch. Just loving the data this watch provides. Battery life is just amazing - easily 2+ days.

My favorite is also "Utility"

You could consider one of those smart watches that have an always on display and a round screen (i.e. look like a traditional watch) or hybrid watches (mechanical with smart features).

Sure, you’d probably have limited utility/functionality compared to using an Apple Watch, but having some smart features is better than nothing.
