Apple Watch wake up

I have always on...OFF but when i turn my wrist to wake up the watch it goes from a dim light to a brighter display. Does Antibes else have this before I go back to the apple store and return it? Please help.

Let me add with brightness all the way up on the watch. Is this just a normal display waking up thing.

I think that’s totally normal. The watch has an ambient light sensor and will adjust the brightness of the display based on ambient light. I suspect the display comes on at a low brightness level and then as the sensor detects the brightness level of the room it will raise the screen brightness.

I turned my AOD off yesterday and noticed the same. My previous watches didn’t do this. Hopefully this is something they resolve in future updates.
