Does the Apple Watch update to the latest version of WatchOS like my phone did ? So far it has not.

open the Watch app on your phone and choose software update

if you have an older phone 3 or older it might require wiping the watch , updating, and then restoring from backup.

No it won't. I somehow fixed that.

iWatch updated yesterday to 7.4.1 - so far it has broken the unlock feature on my iMac. Any ideas?

I've seen a few reports of this. Just disable the setting on your iMac (System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Use your Apple Watch to unlock apps and your Mac), then enable it again. Seems to work for most people!
