Wifi Calling and Apple Watch

I was just wondering if wifi calling needs to be disabled on iPhone to be able to receive calls on the watch?

I'm assuming that because they connect via Bluetooth I should be able to keep wifi calling activated on my phone when I receive my watch?

Yea, wifi calling needs to be disabled, as the watch uses Continuity to work, just like the iPad and Mac.

The lack of wifi calling is not a watch issue. It's simply because of Continuity.

Wifi calling does not work with continuity since it came out as part of iOS 8, never has done, this is the case with Macs, iPads, why the surprise that the same applies to the watch?! If they haven't made wifi calling and continuity work in the last 11 months of people having access to iOS 8 and all the time prior to that when it was in development, it's probably not happening any time soon.

Maybe in iOS 9, if they crack the issue, which is obviously a technological issue. Also, wifi calling hasn't really taken off with the carriers. Only a couple in the U.S. And one in the UK. I suspect that Apple won't push for that unless carriers pick up more. More chance of FaceTime audio being sorted.

As I said, it wasn't possible, at the time, due to a technical reason, which they might crack by iOS9, sure enough, looks like I was right. So, thanks for pointing out I'm right buddy! :)

I'm just glad they did crack it, and then some, with that feature allowing you to basically forget your iPhone somewhere and still remain connected in certain network environments.
The waiting is the hardest part. I wish these features shipped with iOS8 and watchOS 1!

Thing is, Wifi Calling is still pretty limited in use, hardly any of the carriers (or networks here in the UK) are using it. 2 networks in the U.S. And 1 in the UK. Three in the UK does it via their own app, which is ridiculous. So really, this issue is for a limited audience anyway.

I'm on iOS 9 beta and can confirm that wifi calls work with the watch. I'm still on watchos 1.0.1
