I have Apple Watch with Cellular thru ATT I am paying installments and cell service
I also have work iPhone with T-Mobile could I connect my ATT Apple Watch to my T-Mobile phone as a GPS only model
Or i am locked to using it only on the ATT iPhone?

You can’t mix and match. Your watch has to be with AT&T, unless your work will allow you to pair the watch with their phone and they pay the added expense.

Bad idea, OP. I would not pair your private device with the work phone.

Short answer is NO. You have an installment contract with AT&T for your Watch. Until you pay it off you are stuck with AT&T and cell service if it was part of your purchase agreement.

If you want to pair with your T-Mobile iPhone it can be done but you are in violation of your agreement with AT&T. So pay off the balance to AT&T and then go to T-Mobile if your company supports a smart device line for cellular service. Most don't.

If you had your own individual T-Mobile iPhone then you could pair your AT&T Apple Watch with your T-Mobile iPhone once you get the watches EID information added to the T-Mobile DB if you want to use it a as $10 cellular smart device.

Note: if you want to break all the rules you can just unpair your Apple Watch from your AT&T iPhone and pair it with your T-Mobile iPhone as a GPS paperweight.

You are breaking your contract with AT&T that you agreed to when your purchased from AT&T. You are also likely in violation of your employment contract and your might even get fired for this violation.

I believe OP stated in the original post that they do want to use it as a GPS only device with their work phone. And a GPs only watch is hardly a paperweight. For instance, you can go running with just your watch and it will map your route, because guess what the GPS is for? ;)

I don't understand why OP wants to use their watch with their work phone, as that would cause any health data collected by the watch to be stored on their work phone. That could be problematic on many levels. And you are right that it could violate employment rules and their contract with AT&T.

But that aside, I'm curious if what they want is technically feasible. With iPhones, when you buy them through a phone company, they are locked and you can't use them with another phone company until your original phone company unlocks them. Is that the same for Apple Watch?

I think to say this is breaking a contract with AT&T is a bit over the top. As long as the payments are being made for the watch and the cellular service (which they have to be because if you cancel the cell service, they’ll charge you in full for the watch balance on your next bill), you’re fulfilling your end of the contract. Even if you used your watch, sans cellular, on another phone, you’re still upholding your end of the deal by paying for your watch/service.

That being said OP, the watch is linked to your number through AT&T, and because of that, pairing with another device may not be possible until the watch is paid in full.
