I can’t imagine how quick the battery would go down with a FaceTime call on Apple Watch. Also, nobody wants to hold their arm in front of them for multiple minutes. I don’t think there is a realist use case for this feature
How often do people use FaceTime for short calls, anyway? I only use it rarely and then its for the kind of call where I want to spend some time with the person on the other end.

Just voice calls are not as comfortable and convenient on the Watch. I only use that when my phone is not in reach and try to keep the call short.

Whatever happened to…I dunno…walking into a restaurant and looking at their menu?

We have become so dependent on these smart iThings. It’s getting really bad
Yup, 100%.
I’ve had an AW since S0, if they add any of that “Intelligence” crap I will have to seriously reconsider.
Focus on bringing back blood oxygen and new health features le eg blood pressure, glucose etc and not this stupid crap.

Never understood why Apple doesn't allow additional features to be built into the watch band itself. Bands could be built to include things like cameras, extra battery, health sensors, etc. And they could be changed out depending on when needed.

I actually could see it being useful for people with impaired vision.
Can you elaborate? Reading your comment immediately made me wonder - if they're visually impaired wouldn't they have an even harder time interacting with the smaller display and getting the watch's orientation just right to get the camera to point at a subject that they are interested in?

Well now, i thought I would want FaceTime on an Apple Watch. But I get weakness in my arms and I don’t know if I would want a camera to be angled up at my fat face if I rested my arms in my lap. Unless…Apple did some sort way of making me look gorgeous w/ some software magic. One can dream.

IDK, the wife and I use our Apple Ultra 2 watches for answering and receiving calls when we run errands even with our iPhones in our pocket. For us it’s just easier to answer on your watch than to dig out your phone. We also use walkie-talkie app quite a bit in our home due to it have 3 floors.

Also, holding your watch to take calls is way lighter than holding a iPhone. So, ideally I’d like a fwd facing cam and a cam that aims away from you. I imagine they will increase the battery storage to compensate for cam use. Since we charge our watches nightly I’m not that concern with battery drain.

Just about time. Apple should make Watch Ultra truly standalone, without any dependency, not requiring other device to setup and use. No, I do not want an iPhone; even for free! Free your mind and your hands! Allowing to install any application including web browsers like Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Edge, etc. Add a camera to read QR codes, etc; best if it is telescopic rotating retractable camera in the crown neck (protecting from dust and sweat, besides privacy). Then I am sold, even for 1,000 USD or more.

Apple Intelligence drains battery life. Can't imagine that being very useful on a watch, especially considering how much easier it would be to just pull your phone out and point its camera where you need to.

Sounds like one more reason to increase the cost of the watch.
Visual intelligence sends the picture to google or chatgpt. Don’t think that drains the battery a lot.

A watch with a camera is cool, but a folding watch is what all the cool kids are clamoring for. I saw a cool kid with one on a plane, and I am so jealous now. I can't wait.

Apple watches with cameras but no facetime is about as useful as male nipples

FaceTime would seem like an ideal app here. The other rumored feature sounds like it would be awkward to use, or is it me?
ha, how in the world would facetime not be just as awkward? You want to hold your arm up for multiple minutes as you have a facetime conversation on a super tiny display on your wrist??? I don’t get how that would be practical at all….. maybe neat to see like once, but nothing more than that.

I don’t watch cameras on the watch, I want better battery life & thinner and lighter. More sensors (diabetes check & blood pressure). That’s it.

I just want Ringtones. The complete and utter travesty that I cant have the Power Rangers tone when my watch gets a message is insanity.
