So still software locked on S8 I guess? Gyroscope, blood oxygen sensor, temp sensor just told-to-be-too-slow-cpu

Were you diagnosed with moderate or severe sleep apnea? If not it’s probably why you didn’t get the sleep disturbances. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea, and am struggling with using my CPAP machine, and on the days I haven’t used my machine (which has been days at a time) I haven’t received any elevated breathing disturbances). My numbers are lower on the nights I do use my CPAP machine.
I hate, and I mean hate my cpap.

I just did some digging and it seems that the Apple Watch uses the accelerometer for detection of sleepapnea. This accelerometer from applewatch 10 is the same as found on earlier models till 6.

So Apple is making it possible from Apple Watch 9 models to detect sleep apnea. It botters me that they use it as a selling point for newer watches while it’s technically possible to make it work from Apple Watch 6 and up. Seems Apple is more interested in gardening money than preventing sleep apnea.
The crazier thing is that the Apple Watch Ultra doesn’t support it either, unless you have Ultra 2. This ultra was released only ~2 years ago and retailed for $800…

It normally takes people years to find out they have sleep apnea. If you're in a particular hurry maybe go see a doctor.
It took me a year to find out I had sleep apnea because I never paid attention to the signs. I had a traumatic accident with some symptoms that prompted my pcp to have a sleep study done and I was diagnosed then. I would’ve never asked for a sleep study if not for that accident.

I hate mine as well. Especially that the only mask that works for me, is a full face mask. I hate having to travel with an extra bag.
Have you checked into inspire? I got denied by the sleep doctor for smoking medical weed.

I’ve suspected for years that I may have sleep apnoea, but my  watch s10 finally gave me the kick I needed to go see a doctor about it. Got given a diagnostic kit to sleep with overnight and although I haven’t got the results yet, I did get an email today saying that I should call them for the results and until then I’m prohibited from driving a car 😂 so clearly there’s something there. (Not actually a problem in my case, no car, no license).

Apnoea, interesting .... lol

I looked into it, but don’t want anything implanted under my skin, so I’ll deal with the CPAP machine. I am going to ask for another sleep study and see if I still have sleep apnea, since I lost 47lbs in a year. I’m hoping that has helped.

Incorrect. Right on the Apple website it is stated that S6/7 and S9/10 have different accelerometers (and gyroscopes if it matters)

Anybody that snores has Apnea to some degree.
That’s not really true, many people snore with no stops in their breathing. When a person is snoring & their breathing stops for a little while & is followed by a bigger snore or a gasp for air… that is classic sleep apnea. I was once told that sleep apnea affects roughly 40% of men over 40.

If you have a home test that tells you that you are having apneas, I would strongly suggest you get an overnight test in a professional sleep clinic. I found out in addition to sleep apnea, I also have periodic leg movements (it’s similar to restless leg syndrome but without feeling ants crawling on my skin). I know periodic leg movement doesn’t sound bad, but in reality I’m playing soccer in my sleep. After getting treated for both I started feeling better in a month or so. I’d not really been sleeping for over a decade. 💤

Still waiting for the Oxygen sensor to be re-enabled. Im not buy another watch till they do.

You’ll have to wait then, since that patent holder wants $130 tacked on per watch for license when you can get a finger O2 meter at Walmart for anywhere from $2-$15.

Or you can buy a Wellue O2 ring that continuously monitors yours blood oxygen at night. I use it alongside my CPAP machine and Apple Watch.

Great to see that it is expanding rapidly. Sad that it is still not available in my country. Hopefully that will change soon.

Where did you find these numbers?
I could not find a source for it.

Anyway, I would have expected this disaster from a small start up company which is new to business, but not from Apple.

The Sleep Apnea feature was calibrated during the recent Tim Cook keynotes, and it was an instant hit.

Sleep tracking is next to pointless, but this is good.
Why is "Sleep tracking is next to pointless" ? Seems to me that data on sleeping patterns should be useful; especially if it is effortlessly available, such as by simply wearing a watch. Healthy patterns versus unhealthy patterns should give some guidance on what to look at next - or not.

What is crazy about that? New things get released over time. I have a v1 Ultra that is great. I would like it to be a v2, but it is not. Maybe I will buy an Ultra v3 when they are released if all the new things that get released over time make it worth upgrading [to me].
