I live in Colorado (In United States), and I also believe the Weather app in iOS 16 got worse.

Last July, my iOS 16 beta device said no rain, but my iOS 15 device said it was going to rain.
iOS 15 was correct.

Differences in temperature readings between apps isn't unusual at all - it all depends on which weather station they're drawing the reading from, and stations even a couple miles from each other can fluctuate pretty considerably depending on their siting and calibration. Some apps will take it from the nearest airport, others from personal weather stations, etc. And it's very likely that none of them are going to be accurate to the degree for where you happen to be standing/sitting at the moment. If you need that kind of accuracy, buy something like a Kestrel handheld weather meter.

Same goes for rain rate and accumulation - the accuracy will depend on what rain gauge is being used and how it's maintained, calibrated and sited. It could be anywhere from highly accurate to worse than a wild guess.

I pulled up Weather Underground and you can see the differences between numerous weather stations in the Phoenix, AZ area - everything from a low of 70.9 to a high of 79.7:

Yea we finally got some rain here the last 2 days, some of it very very heavy, and yet the Apple weather app said we got not even a trace. Still don’t know why they bought Dark sky and built off that as it sucked as a weather app.

I live in Germany and it’s not easy to find a good weather app when you live between the alps. Apple Weather was always ok, but since iOS 16 it’s so useless like the Carrot app.

We had rain the whole day, Apple showed rain after 4pm. I’ve made the same experience a week ago too. Heavy rain for hours but no rain in the app. Forecast showed no rain either.

Current weather and forecast shows too warm and too cold temperatures. Everything is wrong.

I can’t believe that Apple says that they are using „DWD - Deutscher Wetterdienst“ as the source. The DWD app shows much different data to me.

Seems like Apple Weather is the new fail like the auto correct of the keyboard. What do you think? Where are you from and how’s the weather app working for you?
Why bother using Apple Weather? Here in Finland I use the app from the Finnish Meteorological Institute. No cost and good.

I’m in the UK and have found Apple Weather not that accurate and it doesn’t have many smaller locations selectable. It’s clearly geared to the US market possibly with data not being sourced in Europe. Here pretty much everyone uses the BBC Weather app or the Met Office for accurate forecasts.

I had the a similar experience in Japan. Apple Weather once told me it was going to be fine all day and I got stuck in rain 5 minutes later and narrowly missed a typhoon!

Ended up installing the yahoo japan weather app like everyone else

I assumed it would get better over the iOS 16 and 16.1 betas. It has, slightly, but not enough.

I live in Switzerland and use search.ch (which has an app and decent 1x4 widget: https://meteo.search.ch).

The thing with the Apple weather app is not only can't it predict, it can't even report. In other words, it gets the current weather wrong not just future weather.

I live in the UK and just west of London.
I do not find the Apple weather app too bad, and info via my AW Ultra seems pretty good.
Mostly it tallies quite well with data from my weather station in the garden.
I do also use the BBC and Met Office apps, and generally go by the worst case forecast when going out.

Of the three options I do prefer the UI of the BBc app, seems the quickest and easiest to read on iPhone.
Although on AW the Apple weather is pretty clear and easy to use.

Because I care about that this app should be useful? If Apple doesn’t give af about our feedback they should stop celebrating themselves with the best weather service when it’s a lie.

That same weather app isn’t very good here in the US either.

“Rain starting in 20 minutes” and 2 hours later it’s still dry.

I agree that it SHOULD be useful but it clearly is lacking so if you want or need accurate weather information you have to move on. Just my opinion of course.

Well it’s the same like the translator app in iOS 15. Every year a new fail. 🤣

But you’re right. The data is wrong, Apple doesn’t give af, so I’ve deleted the app and using something better.

The same in Spain. iOS Weather app is unusable since iOS16. On iOS15 was perfect with preditions and rain.

Reported to Apple, but they don't care.

my gf and i both use apple weather but get different weathers for the exact same location.

tried both zip code and auto location. even closing and force refreshing, we never have the same readings. does anyone know why?

Same iOS version?

Hope you'll consider using the Report an Issue function inside the app to help improve it.
Wot he said. I have been reporting issues since iOS 16 appeared and the accuracy has slowly started to improve. I know forecasting will never be entirely spot-on but at least we can help improve the modelling...

nah, she's on a 16S so whatever the latest version of ios on there is. but i really don't think that should make a difference in data the app shows.
If she's using an older Phone (or yet to be released if it wasn't a typo) running a version older than iOS 16 it's still using the weather channel weather data which will be different from their new Weather API data.

ah thanks, it was always driving us crazy why it was different. and yes, 6s not 16s.

In Switzerland I have found the iOS 16 weather app to have better data than the old one. The Weather Channel is basically unusable for Swiss weather, it will aways be off. The new one is "kinda alright-ish", I'd say. Not as perfect as the official national news app, but at least it's usable.

As a slight off-topic, Carrot weather is also not bad, as long as you change the weather data source to Meteogroup.

I was a long time Dark Sky user (in the USA) - anyone else finding half the time in the new Apple Weather app that the precipitation map does not work? The local view might show, but if you click the map icon go to the full map view, there is no precipitation showing anywhere at all. its very annoying and a much worse experience than using Dark Sky.

Yep, same here. Pretty annoying, especially with all the bad weather and freezing rain here in North Texas. It seems if I select the 12 hour forecast it overlays most of the rainfall. But nothing on the 1 hour forecast selection. Reported in the weather app.

For a while I've had a problem with the Next Hour Forecast Precipitation map animation. It always changes course upwards when it reaches 'Now'. Anyone else get this?
