Apple is selling a refurbished XS Max with 512GB of storage for $1019. This is expensive but it’s still a discount of $330 off retail and with a full one year Apple warranty as if it was brand new. You can buy these same devices for $750+ on Swappa in mint condition (should be similar to Apple’s refurbished condition) without the warranty. I guess it’s a matter of what’s important to you. After having a XS Max, I would push anyone to pay an extra $80 for a 512GB 11 Pro Max instead but it’s not the worst deal for either phone.

Guessing this is US prices, cant believe people would pay this, isn’t the 12 pro max $999 brand new over there?

Yeah, this is nonsense - absolute crazy.

Here you can get an refurbished Xs Max with 512GB AND 2 years warranty in very good condition (like brand new) for 710€ (incl. tax). That's about ~830 USD.

Regular 128GB 12 Pro Max is $1099. The 512GB 12 Pro Max is $1399. 512GB XS Max refurbished from Apple with 1 year warranty is $1019. 512GB 11 Pro Max refurbished from Apple with 1 year warranty is $1099.

I would never buy used from anywhere except Apple because of their great warranty service. Of course I don’t buy used tech to begin with but just saying if I did, I would pay more to get it from Apple.

It is crazy. Apple set the refurb prices when the XS Max was still the current flagship. Then never changed those refurb prices. I expect they don't even bother reviewing refurb prices for absurdities.

I guess every once in a while. Someone who doesn't know what they're looking at buys one. But at double the going used price for that model. I could never see purchasing it. It doesn't matter how awesome Applecare is. It's not worth a 100% increase for one year of coverage.
