Not going to happen. Too many SKU's for Apple and will cause too much customer confusion.

Not really. If anything, it will cause confusion for Apple Care. For average consumers though, it will be "old iPhone 4," "the new iPhone 4," and "the iPhone 5."

I am still thinking this is what we will be seeing on Tuesday. Let's hope!

You say they will bring out "3!" new iPhone models? So 3! = 3 * 2 * 1 = 6 new iPhone models?

I thought this exact same thing when I saw the post. Very funny. On the math jokes, I hope apple doesn't turn my smile upside down

Hello everyone,

Apple will bring out, three "new" iPhones.

The iPhone 5 (New Design, spec bumped)
The iPhone 4S (iPhone 4 design, spec bumped)
The iPhone 4 (with only 8GB storage or less)

They will introduce the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 on 4th Oct for sure. And the spec lowered iPhone 4 will come silently like the other spec downgraded versions.

Why should Apple do this? Its simple, they are starting to attack the all three smartphones markets from high end to low end pricing.

iPhone 5 starts at 799$
iPhone 4S starts at 399$
iPhone 4, 8gb or less starts at 199$

These leaked made in brazil iPhones are the cheap ones.

How do you know this?

Sounds believable. The 3 models I mean and Apple releasing the new 4 quietly. The price though, not that believable.

You should have at least acknowledged that this is more or less speculation on your part. You, just as I and everyone else, don't really know what's going to happen on Tuesday. I find it hard to believe Apple would release two different models simultaneously.

One day before the event. Please see that Apple just will present two new devices, and the third will be a silent release.

Lets see, that I^m talking of prices for unlocked phones. Apple will present prices with 2 year contracts. So they will be lower.

$799 for the iPhone 5, I doubt it? And I think the 8GB iPhone 4 will probably be around $99; maybe $150? We'll just have to wait until Tuesday for the real thing. Nobody really knows around here.

ok maybe, we have to calculate 100$ down on 4S and 5.

iPhone 5 starts at 699$
iPhone 4S starts at 299$

But thats just the price for the device with no contract.

$699 for an off-contract iPhone 5, sounds plausible.

$299 for a 4S? $199 for a 4? Erm, no way. Those prices would be possible if it were an on-contract price, but definitely not for a contract-free device.
Something like $499 and $399 respectively is more like it. The iPhone 4 costs $187 to mfg, and that's not even accounting for advertising, pack-ins, packaging, shipping to the carrier/store, etc. They'd be losing money if they sold the 4 for $199.

Thats some good points. And the 187$ is right also. But that changed to under 100$ with the time. The more the produce, the cheaper they get the parts and everything. But 499$ and 399$ is also very realistic.

Dude before replying why not read the actual thread and then do your research.

The cheapest iPhone 4 currently actual handset price direct from Apple is $797;
http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone/select?mco=MjU1NTYyNDA (converted to USD).

The problem is when you think about prices, you think of the subsidized price. Do you really think Apple sells a new iPhone to AT&T for $199! Nope, they get the FULL PRICE of close to $700, then the carrier discounts the initial handset to you, and then takes the rest back over 24 months via your bill. Both Apple and the Networks will get the $700 from you one way or the other :D

You should never be tied down to your Network although because America is such a big country I understand depending on where you live you maybe. But the unlocked handset only price is the important one. If you lose your next iPhone or drop it in the sea and need to replace it without insurance this is the cost you will be paying.

So will the next iPhone cost $800 sim-free without contract? Hell Yeah!

They priced it $100 less than before ($199->$99) because that's an on-contract price, and they'll still be getting much more than the initial $99.
They also deducted $100 from the off-contract pricing because it was originally $599 and now it's $499, still way over their BOM.

So $699 off-contract, and $60 off if you sign a contract (I'm assuming that's the only way you'll see the instant savings?), and the 4S for $99 on-contract and $399 off-contract. No idea if their guesses are correct either way- the only way to know is to wait til Oct 4.

First off, I thought he was talking about ON CONTRACT.. my bad no need to type me a full paragraph for a little misreading. Second, I'm not a dude. =)
