Tried 3 chats and got the same exact answer every time: "its too new, please try again in 2020" or "we don't accept tades for your mac yet."

Quite annoying when I spent $4200 on a a laptop that apple wont give a penny for.. any advice / is it BS?

Best of luck

If I had bought an upgraded 15" MBP in the last couple of months I'd be pretty pissed quite honestly. Finally getting a reasonable base configuration w/r/t SSD right in mid-cycle like that is interesting.

Certainly Pissed. to put the piss into perspective.... I purched for $4200 on May 25th. Now I get offers for about 23-2400. I lost 45% of its value in less than 170 days. that's about $10/Day and it will get worse the next 3-4 weeks.

Not sure if I'm going to bitch to apple yet but it might be worth a shot..

To be fair, we heard credible rumors about the 16-inch back in February. But I do feel for you in the loss of value.

Why you’d want to trade it in at Apple considering how poor their valuation is. I get it people like convenience and don’t want to sell on eBay/Craigslist etc but there are many other outfits which allow you to trade in electronics without this hassle which provide far more money.

My MacBook Pro 2019 is a lemon.

I only chose it because I didn't want to drop major $ upgrading non 64 bit software, yet. Bad keyboard (replaced). USB C ports 50% operational. Crack in screen bezel that had nothing to do with accidental damage. I don't think they want these back. Keyboard and screen unreliable (can't use to repair other lemons). It's total crap that they have 39 forum pages of customers saying there's no way their MBP screens cracked where it's nearly impossible to damage (save a BB gun).

Since it is still under warranty why don't you get it fixed/ask for a replacement? As noted above you will get more money selling it yourself. Apple trade-in values are poor and they might even rejected it if the unit has defects. A defective unit is not going to get the best price if you sell it.

First you have to get Apple to admit their screen is defective and I didn't throw a dart at it to crack the bezel. The fact they won't trade these in seems fishy, regardless of what it would sell for, privately.

15". Bad keyboard, bad USB bus, screen prone to spontaneous cracking. It's a lemon. I'd feel bad selling it to someone, and it HAS AppleCare+.

If the USB bus is failing that is a basis for repair/replacement regardless of screen status.
I brought my 2017 15” MBP to have its USB-C ports checked because they didn’t hold cables tightly. They took it in back and to see if they could “adjust the springs in the ports”.

They came out, said that didn’t work and sent it out for a top case replacement. I was surprised they’d do a top case replacement as the I/O boards can be replaced as they are individual parts.

Luckily, I had called Apple support a couple of months ago to open a service ticket, as my AC+ warranty expired a couple of weeks ago, while the store was still closed. My phone call made sure it was covered under warranty.

Yes, that's true. But a working bus isn't all that useful when the screen is dead, no? And the issue is Apple won't acknowledge the screen has a design flaw? see?

I would get the laptop fixed, then sell it. I have a 2018 MacBook Pro 15 inch with the 3rd generation keyboard. I have had zero issues with my laptop. All ports work but I also take care of my computers.

If you keep it it still holds the value for you.. you can keep it 4-5 years and then get a arm one

Guess I don't understand what "spontaneous cracking" means. If the screen is totally dead then it definitely is eligible for repair, subject to abuse evaluation.

There are literally 1000+ Apple "Customers" complaining on Apple's website their MBP screens cracked without any overt impact. Today an Applestore genius and the store manager explained to me how it was impossible for the screen to crack without an impact. WRONG!

IT'S THE HINGES.

There's way too many people with a very similar issue; it's not accidental damage or "pilot error."

A MAJORITY of these cracks happen near one of the screen hinges. The same hinges that lock at about 45 degrees. While every Apple employee is trained to tell you it's your fault. It's a safe bet it's surface pressure caused by the hinge flexing the screen to a tolerance it can't withstand. And that tolerance isn't much.

Without any sufficient warning that this may occur, IT IS A DESIGN FLAW, and Apple should cop to it.

You have Apple care. If your screen was cracked, Apple would replace it. If your keyboard wasn’t working, Apple would replace it. If your TB3 ports were not working, Apple would replace it. Yet, you have not taken it in to be fixed, but talk all about these problems you find in the forums, not your actual machine. Let us know what actual repairs your computer needs to be functional.

Actually, this the 3rd time I'm taking it in for repairs. And there's the $99 service "replacement " fee for "accidental damage" on top of the $350 for the AppleCare Do they pay you? Who is the "us" you mention?
