This has got to be the most expensive marketing campaign ever, right?
How much money has Fortnite lost throughout this battle with Apple? At this point I would imagine the losses are in the billions.

I’m just waiting for Epics board of directors to give Sweeney the boot for his troubles.

I don’t see how offering alternative payment options would be the end of Apple. And I don’t understand why opinions are so strong on this issue generally.

Opinions on ANYTHING anymore are stupidly extreme on ANY issue. This isn't new, just like Apple vs Epic isn't new.

That being said, there's no reason why other payment systems can't be there. I mean as soon as one alternate pay store blows up and loses money/information, they will come running back.

By customers you mean Developers. Customers were in no way going to benefit from the proposed changes
Exactly. Plus...aside from a few people on MacRumors...I have NEVER heard anyone complain about this. At all...

You'd think if it was such an issue for customers, more people OUTSIDE of MacRumors would talk about it...and if it weren't for MR...I would have NEVER heard of this. Almost like it's not actually a pressing issue for the majority of the customer base...

Billions?

At this point, Epic’s legal fees are very likely in seven figures—i.e., between one million and ten million USD. Not a pleasant amount, I suppose, but hardly “billions,” or even all that painful a number for a company of Epic’s size.

Are you thinking of losses due to being thrown off the App Store? Reputational damage? I suppose those are worth something non-negligible, but I can’t imagine it’s anywhere close to billions.

I was prepared to Go Live with this tomorrow, if possible:

While I don't want multiple app stores I do think Apple needs to figure something out as an accommodation. The tide of sentiment and legal pressure is changing and they don't want to be on the wrong side.

Billions just from the revenue that Apple users generated by buying in game items and skins. A quick google says Fortnite generated 1.2 billion from in app purchases on the App Store.

“Apple granted request for delay of their loss.”

hehehehe EPIC fail lolol Apple FTW praise God Emperors Tim and Craig

App Store consumers are the ones who lost today !

NOT Epic, they are out of the picture, WRT the App Store.

And may never get back in.
I disagree. SOME (not all) developers have shown, if left to their own merit they will develop shady apps. Would you really trust your payment information to a shady developer and/or their third party payment processors ? Also data breaches and system compromises happen all day every day. In the event their systems are compromised, do you really expect shady developers and/or their thrid party payment processors to be forthcoming in announcing the breach? And if that should happen guess who's brand will be subjected to being tarnished the most, Apple's.

Good, time for congress to sweep in and install new marketplace rules that are worse for Apple than just complying with allowing that link. Its going to happen eventually, Apple should have settled for the lowest impact option and look like they were cooperating.
