No apple watch for me... The watch bands max out at 8.5 inches, my wrist is 9.5 inches... Sucks to be a big dude in an apple world.
Just cancel this stupid product. Divert the future billions you will waste to improving OSX, Macs, and iPhone.
Already the benefits of this have come to the Mac line: Force Touch and figuring out how to make a tiny system-on-a-chip has enabled products like the ultra-thin MacBook.
You have no way of ascertaining whether that would have happened regardless or in what order.
Something like force touch could have easily been in the works and it made sense to use it in the Apple Watch.
The iPhone was originally developed from the idea of the iPad.
True, but it's silly to say Apple are wasting resources.
If the Apple Watch fails, or doesn't interest you, the company is big enough that they also have iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, etc etc which you can enjoy.
The only area that seems to be lacking any attention is iPod.
I never brought into question about resources being wasted. But perhaps your comment wasn't directed at me.
If the Apple Watch fails - the company will survive. But it will take a hit as it will be the first major new product launch in a few years. Investors could get spooked and certainly the media will have its day.
Note I am in no way suggesting the watch will fail. Just stating that IF it did, there would naturally be reprecussions
Yeah, I agree with you
What's interesting is Apple's apparent confidence in the Watch.
If Apple Pay fails, it can disappear like Ping, almost unnoticed without anyone worrying too much.
But they've really introduced the Watch as their "major new category" with a "revolutionary new user interface" that will "redefine what people expect" from smartwatches.
I'm waiting see if it will be the best of a bad bunch, or do what iPad did to the tablet market - take off so spectacularly that people forget what came before.
it might be a little bit of both. I remember when the iPhone came out. So much fun to play with - but couldn't do most of what I needed it to do. But a lot of fun to show off and play with
Now the watch seems to have more utility (at least it's comparable or better than what's been introduced in terms of abilities) but will it be more of a fun "toy" to have or will it become as ubiquitous as the iPhone.
I think iphone and the Mac were the real game changers, and the watch won't match their successes.
However, I can see it reaching iPod level success, and the more I learn about it the more I think it will be successful. People will realise that pulling your phone out to check the time isn't the only instance when having the information directly on your wrist is useful.
I also don't think the click wheel or digital crown are as bigger breakthroughs as the mouse or multitouch. However, the clickwheel was fantastic on iPod and I think the crown will be useful on the watch.
