So I brought my 4 year old MBP into Apple. They found slight water damage on the Logic Board and are telling me that in order to replace they battery, they'd have to replace the Logic Board too.

This will run about $1,100. Obviously out of the question. They won't just sell the battery, so I have no options other than a third party.

Do any companies make a replacement battery that isn't total ****? I'm really out of options here. They battery sometimes lasts 3 or 4 hours but will often just instantly drop to 0% at random. I travel often so this is an issue.

Any help you guys could give would be appreciated.

Buy the battery from out and install it your self. I guess they must of saw some corrosion on the board and hence suggested you this but i dont think they can reject a repair if you do not wish to fork out so much $ for a new board. Heck you can get a new macbook for that amount

The last replacement battery I got is still going, the official apple one it replaced lasted less than 6 months before expanding so much it permanently warped the case. It's just the luck of the draw. I reckon some of the chinese stuff is better quality, based on my experience, but YMMV.

Apple do sell replacements for the older macs though, at least around here

I would take it to an Apple Authorize Service Provider. Since it's out of warranty they can replace the battery regardless of water damage being present.
