In iPad Air 12.9 would be the perfect successor to my current 10.5 Pro. I do not need "Pro", but eyesight is getting worse.

This will make for a total of 7 different iPad models of various screen sizes and features. Apple - you need to stop this. This is the same problem Apple had before Steve Jobs came back in the 1990s. Put that 2x2 grid back to work so it’s easy for customers to choose. Just make a mini, a standard, a Pro, and a Pro Max that all work with the SAME Apple Pencil.

The $329 iPad would be gone for sure by then. It's a holdover to get consumers acclimated to the 10th gen price.

You have a point but do you think Apple also wants to keep the $329 starting price? E.g. schools and enterprise.

Even iPhone SE has gone up to $429 (originally $399 in 2016). The $329 iPad was launched in 2017.

With the 2x2 it's likely to be 2 screen sizes in the Air and Pro line. with a small/large on the x axis and Consumer/Pro the Y.

That would mean no mini; since the mini doesn't fit into the model.

As for accessories, you would have a Pro and Consumer pencil as well at 2 price points and feature sets.

If this ever gets OLED then that will be my next iPad. The iPad Pro just isn’t worth it with the state of ipadOS.

This will be to catch the customers who can’t afford the OLED 12.9”.

If they give it 120Hz that will be me. Definitely can’t justify replacing my current iPad Pro. Way too expensive. Half the cost of a Vision Pro.

ooo. Grabbing people with poor eyesight or poorer eyesight through out the years. Older folks will love this without the need for high-end specs of the iPad Pro and high price.

I see that demographic and the beginner/amateur digital artists of all ages loving the 12.9" iPad Air size.

Drawing on a 11" versus a 12.9 is a huge difference let alone taking notes and content consumption.

Like the MBA 15". Bigger screen, less unnecessary high-end specs.

They are seeing a gap in the market and filling it in.
Precisely this. It makes good business sense.
So glad that Apple is finally moving beyond that larger must be premium only mindset.

Anything you can do to make the iPad product lineup as confusing as possible for customers would be consistent with their mentality lately. Can't wait for the 3 versions of Apple Vision Pro (Pro, Max, Ultra)
