So focused on creating a keyboard for iPad, they never thought to just add Apple Pencil support and a Touch display to a MacBook.

"But iPad and MacBooks are two different products", I hear the defenders say.

Yeah, look at iPad Pro with the latest Magic Keyboard for iPad and tell me how it's not just a MacBook running iOS that isn't allow to run macOS? Or why you can't use Apple Pencil on a MacBook? Why?

All these nonsense, beyond over-priced accessories for iPad is on such an extreme level of fence riding that you'd almost think Apple is out of ideas for iPad.
Because if the iPad can run macOS I will not buy a MacBook anymore period. Apple knows it.

Wow. Really looking forward for it. Waiting to see who's going to plonk $250+ for a keyboard!!!

Wonder how it's going to work with the current smart connector location. If Apple moves the SC on the iPad 11, not only will the iPad10 not get this keyboard, but the 11 cant used the 10's keyboard.

“Completely redesigned“

I don’t think those words mean what you think they do.

Unless the case wraps the edges to hold it tightly would never buy apples solution. Logitechs does the same thing and protects the iPad much better.

I bought the whole iPad Pro + MKB + pencil pro shebang and I am thoroughly unimpressed, mostly because of the silly limitations Apple places on iPadOS.

You can’t even stream 2 audio sources at once — a feature any 90s windows machine could do. And it’s an Apple-designed limitation, as is everything in iPadOS.

300+ for a keyboard is whack.

I never bought into iPad much, except the mini, because it bridge the smaller iPhone mini.
Otherwise, I would very MUCH rather have a smaller MacBook 11-12” than a iPad with a keyboard.

Don't think the price will be lower. Maybe it will launch with the next version of iPad Air

Thats what is going to happen

Much like the iPad itself, the Magic Keyboard is already more than good enough hardware, held back by the software. The software prevents getting complex work done on iPad, meaning it's just got to be good at note taking and messaging, which it's already great at. I don't see scope for meaningful improvement in this hardware.

Please bring back the Smart Folio. I had it on my previous 12.9" iPad Pro and I loved it. I really, really tried to convince myself that I needed the MKB but I just can't with how it much it costs and the added bulk. The new iPad Pros are amazingly thin and lightweight and the Magic Keyboard would add too much heft. The Folio wouldn't weigh it down so much and although still expensive I feel I'd get a better return on my investment since I liked it so much last time.

Apple, I beg you, DO THE RIGHT THING.
Exactly. This is the reason I did not upgrade to the new iPad Pro. If Apple releases a folio keyboard, I will buy the new iPad Pro

I'm also putting off buying the new iPad Pro until Apple releases a folio keyboard for it - if they don't, I won't be buying an iPad.

I already have a M2 MacBook Air. The footprint of the iPad Pro + MKB is just way too similar.

Nope, I don’t and would not buy one. The Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro is perfect for my use and assume it is for countless others. How strangers seem to know what others need is an endless source of amusement.
You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little f****d up maybe, but I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to f****'n' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?

Was disappointed there wasn't a revised Magic Keyboard with a function row for the iPad Air, but great to know one is coming.

And don't mind that it's not aluminum as it'll hopefully mean it'll be more affordable.

So the iPad is good but it need’s a keyboard and macOS. So bad we don’t have anything available with those…
Until the MacBook has built in unlimited data options and a rear facing camera, it will never replace my iPad use cas. That’s not a defense of PadOS, just a simple fact, for me, the MacBook has its own set of limitations too.

I will break it down for you (since clearly you like being ripped off by apple). If another company can produce an extremely similar keyboard for a good deal cheaper, apple is ripping you off. I guess you enjoy spending more than needed on items but most don’t. Still does not change it’s not worth $300 (And hence why they always seem to have sales on them shortly after launch).
Being "ripped off" is in the eye of the beholder. If someone compares options and ends up spending $300 for an iPad keyboard and believes that it is a worthwhile purchase... they are NOT getting ripped off.

IMO, the pricing of Apple's iPad keyboard options are obscenely expensive. That' me. I don't judge people for finding value in purchasing them...
... in the same way that I don't judge anyone who buys an iPad other than the 64GB 10th gen iPad. :p

I remember Apple asked my feedback for the keyboard last Summer as market research. I like the kick-stand style. For the two-piece design, I rarely took out to keyboard part.
