Article Title Rant

"Apple Working to Expand Siri's Third-Party App Integration for iWatch"

Non-misleading titles please. Not every rumor is necessarily related to an "iWatch" even if that's what people want to read about.

I understand this is a rumors site, but there are rumors (things you hear from somewhat reliable sources that may or may not be true), and there are speculations and assumptions. That Apple is "Working to Expand Siri's Third-Party App Integration" is the rumor, and that's fine, but "for iWatch" is a huge assumption, even if a logical one. Not that the article can't draw some conclusions/assumptions/speculations from the rumor, just don't make it part of the title as if it's part of the rumor, or gospel.

I understand the need for sites like this to link-bait for hits and ad revenue, I just don't like this trend most tech sites have adopted of titling articles that intentionally mislead the reader from what the actual news or rumor is, and twist it to fit the current narrative.

Siri offers nothing but frustration in real world usage.

Any noise around you confuses it.

Google voice has been so far much better at understanding the human language.

I've had the EXACT OPPOSITE situations with Siri.

I was in the crowd of a noisy NFL football game, Siri would understand anything I'd say, and my friend with Google Voice couldn't get his phone to understand anything at all. Siri didn't respond 100% correctly all the time, but she got everything I said.

The original article (not the summary) refers specifically to wearable devices such as smart watches requiring voice input, right in the opening paragraphs that are visible on the website.

Siri also can't do simple things like create a new contact. The less typing on the tiny iPhone screen the better for me. Hopefully they will add these features with the next version.

This would be the death sentence for iWatch.
Just look at how many countries that have Siri support. Its just 3 countries that have full support 2 and half year since introduction.

And I dont talk about localization. Apple have been so lazy that they haven't even put in Siri meta data in more than 20 countries. For the vast majority Siri is useless today.

And technically: iWatch. To activate Siri I have to push the watch. The watch have to leave ULP state and connect to iPhone via Bluetooth, log into the internet. Send the data to Apple servers and wait for a response sent to the phone and then to the iWatch. Nope. It will not work good enough.

I hope its Tim trolling everyone. Imagine how much money Samsung and others have spent on this market with stuff that is useless.

Here's what I want.

Me: "I'm hungry. Surprise me."
Siri: "Ok, I will have something ready for you".

20 Minutes Later...I have food at my door step.

I'm one of those who can never decide what to have for lunch. That's why I have interns to decide for me. :roll eyes:

does anyone use Siri or something similar regularly? i still haven't seen a real need to ever talk to my phone. maybe one day when scarlett johansson is on the other line, but until then my fingers work quite well.

Yes...my favorite feature has to do with the "find friends" Apple app. It's very handy because you can ask, "where's my wife?" and it'll stick a dot on the map where she's at. So cool. (Also means she can ask her phone, "where's my husband" and it'll tell her. :/

I own a really high end watch (It was a gift) so I am not in the market for a smart watch. I hope some of this technology filters down into another form factor (keychain, zipper pull, or something else) that will work with my lifestyle.

The evidence that Apple will produce a "smart watch" is actually pretty close to zero, and the logic is all against it -- so, no worries.

I know how you feel. I have always worn a watch as a fashion statement. A few months ago I tried out the pebble, and it really changed the way I feel. I would way rather have the function provided from a smart watch than the looks of a classy watch. I never thought I would write that last statement :p

uhhh...the logic definitely supports it WILL be released.

Yes, something is coming, but no logic supports it being a "smart watch." Unless you think that Apple is totally unimaginative and really wants to associate their wearable tech with a bunch of geeky and mostly useless products.

So many things wrong with that post that I will not even go further =\

The millions being sold clearly support your statements.

Where's the support for your statement that millions are being sold? Pebble had sold 190,000 watches as of the end of last year, nearly half to Kickstarter supporters. That's pretty good for a startup, but not millions. I suppose people are really lining up for the Galaxy Gear, though. Samsung claims to have shipped hundreds of thousands, but isn't talking about how many they've actually sold. In any case, a million or two worldwide, even if accurate, is not a big number, especially when you consider that Apple has already sold over 800 million mobile devices.

The point being, Apple is not going to chase this or any other product category. Apple being Apple, they will come up with something that will make everyone wonder why they thought it was going to be just an Apple version of something we've already seen. Why anyone who follows Apple even casually would predict that, I have no idea.

They will release a SmartWatch.

Apple should expand Siri to actually work.

They need to still make Siri something worth using.

does anyone really use siri?
I only used it for amusement a few times and since then the first thing I did was disabling it when I bought an iPhone / iPad.
I find it un-necessary for majority of people.
