That rumour of 8K per view, $5000 selling price for AR finally make some sense if that is what they are really doing.

TSMC's ( or any Fabs ) method of making MicroLED is ridiculously expensive, comparatively speaking to any display technology on the market.

Aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃)… is the base for rubies and sapphires… sooo… sapphire glass basically is the transparent aluminum that you've been waiting for.

This is a little better than relying on rubies and sapphires.

sorry I don’t like wearing glasses..only wearing sunglasses during summer time.

People aren't expected to wear AR glasses all the time. Only when there's a reason/purpose to engage with AR.

When it's cold outside I usually wear a jacket. When it's not cold outside, or when I'm home, there's no need to wear a jacket.

employees are subject to strict non-disclosure agreements that forbid them from "even meeting with friends or acquaintances working in the tech industry."
This is some real BS. Companies should never have so much power that they can forbid employees from meeting with friends. Could you imagine if they tried this in Silicon Valley where everyone works in tech? This is abuse. And like people don’t talk to each other over the phone or text? So stupid. Overreach. It’s just a job. No job should be so important that it takes precedence over your life and relationships. We’re not slaves. We work to live, not live to work.

If they can make screens that small and pair it up with an airpods max headset all the computing power and battery and sound can come from the airpods style headset while leaving the glasses looking like ordinary sunglasses. If they tether the glasses to the headset they can run a cable through that. Its possible to make a very small pair of glasses if you pair it up with an over the ear headset.

the $3000 AR Glasses. I'm OUT. I live a frugal life.
$3000 for AR glasses in a pandemic where I hear now that we need to be vaccinated every year for COVID is OUT.
The Apple VR goggles will be expensive like that, as they will be intended as a low volume niche product likely for the purpose as a de facto beta/development tool for AR Glasses, which is the AR product Apple is taking very seriously. I think the AR glasses will be half that price, or less.

Where did you get $3000? And by the time these come out, the pandemic will be long gone. You should be vaccinated every year for the flu. Does that change your buying habits?

Are AR glasses even that popular? never even considered buying a pair, seems like a product that you’ll use a few times and then the novelty wears off.
Tim Cook has said to the media that he believes AR will be "bigger than the iPhone". That kind of thing isn't said lightly. I think Apple believes that AR is the next major computing platform. It's basically computing without the limitations of physical displays, and the addition of a totally 3D environment around you. We will probably one day wonder how we ever lived without AR.

If you compare a $3000 product with a yearly visit to the doc I'm guessing… American (🇺🇸)?
Covid vaccines are relatively cheap and free in most cases in the USA...he should have no health cost and plenty of money for the AR glasses.

Same here, the Apple Watch comes in handy for my notifications when I’m out and about, can’t see a use case for apple glasses though

Now the million dollar question, will everyone copy apple once they release them, or will Samsung mock apple and then rush a half baked product to the market like the rest of their hardware. 🤔
I would like a head up display with time, bearing, course over ground, and altitude while backpacking and snow camping. Cycling cue sheet and power output HUD would also be good.

If Apple Glasses will cure my shortsightiness I'm interested, other than that, why waste my "sight" 👀

I was expecting some form of light projection to the lens and then a reflection to the iris versus a transparent panel. I was hoping we could see official news from Apple late 2021... but I guess that timeline is a bit farther out ☹️
