i have AppleWorks databases on my ibook G4. I have one file that I was using when the screen froze and went black. I had to reboot. Since the reboot, this one database file is still showing up but when I try to open it, it gives me an I/O error occurred. All other database files open fine! This is the most important file I have on this computer. Can you help me bypass this error and open the file.

Might have been corrupted. Use a backup and see if that works fine, if it does you know the other is corrupted.
