I think the new update breathes life into the Polycarbonate MB, but why did :apple: not offer the black case color? I owned the last gen Black MB, and while it got more fingerprints, it looked more professional than the white MB, which, to me, looks kinda girly. If :apple: made a Black MB again, I would be first in line, ready to get one. One issue I also have, why is there not a single 7200 RPM HDD offering?

For the 7200rpm drive, I'd wager it'd because the MacBook is a "consumer" laptop. Also, I'd wager they want to maximize battery life/minimize vibration and noise.

I would agree that a black option would be nice. I want a black aluminum MBP.

When I saw all the announcements today, I thought "okay, how long until the complaining threads come"

Don't see how white is girly. I prefer white. Black is sleek and sexy but its just like a black car, after a month its more hassle than its worth. Gets dirtier faster and scratches more easily.

My guess is that with the 13'' MBP, Apple figured they have offered enough diversity that there is no need for a black MacBook. If you don't like the white MacBook, they're better off if you pay the extra $200 for the MBP than if they were to offer a black Macbook anyway.

Also, forget anodized black aluminum, I'm still waiting for a gun metal sheen MBP.

Imagine the day when Apple updates their products and no-one complains....

I can't see it until they reduce the price of macbook to $700, include firewire and blu ray and 15inch option ...the iMac with 8 core i7 and 16gb ram standard with mutitouch display and priced at $800...mac mini half its current size(the height) with double ram and hdd and starting price $300 and and mac pro starting from $1500:D:rolleyes::cool:;)

Macbook Pro Nano! If they came out with a 12", macbook or pro, plastic or metal, I'd find a way to buy one.

12" really isnt that much smaller than 13" is it?

Yes, it is. I've got a 12" powerbook and a 13" aluminum macbook, and there is a size difference. If I'm not doing anything processor intensive, I prefer to use the powerbook.

There's a reason why some people are holding onto their 12" g4 ***books; it's just a great size and form factor for mobile computing.

Hm okay.

I wouldnt have thought that 0.84 inches (2.13cm) of length and 0.53 inches of height (1.35cm) would make a lot of difference. Especially with Apple's trend of smaller screen = larger bezel. But I will take your word for it.

I'd be lying if I didn't say there is a subjective element to it. But thank you for your thoughtful debate. :) It's nice to see reasoned, mature discussion online these days instead of screaming, put-downs and name calling.

Your both wrong. 13 inches is, in fact, exactly the same as 12 inches. I'm the only one who's noticed...

I want a transparent aluminium Macbook - and I wont upgrade to Snow Leopard until they bring one out, that will show them... wah wah wah

jeez

black aluminum mbp? thats ****ing stupid. its aluminum because of the way that it looks. black poly mbp would be nice but not aluminum. just my opinion. and whats transparent aluminum? never heard of it
