sad to say i dropped my X from about 2.5 feet and the corner cracked. i do have applecare but was not sure about the terms/coverage and what i should do. (just putting it out there that ive had 7 previous iphone and after countless drops, never had a screen crack on me)

anyhow, apple states that applecare "adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a service fee of $29 for screen damage, or $99 for any other damage, plus applicable tax"

so is it 2 incidents regardless of the type of damage? eg, if i repair the screen twice, i am no longer eligible for the $99 "other damage" and vice versa.

if so, what happens after the 2 incidents? am i right in guessing i'd have to pay full price?

if this is accurate, i feel like i should wait until it "really" gets f'd up since i have 2 years to go ha!

atm, the corner glass is crushed but the phone is 100% usable.

Yes you are correct, only 2 incidents of accidental damage. So if you broke your front screen and back glass, you would pay the 29+99+tax. Your next accident and any after that, full price.

And sorry to see that happen. I have AC+ but still don't have the balls to run the phone naked, at least not yet. Once my clear case starts to fade I'll probably try it out.

Ouch!

Yes, under the contract you get two accidental coverage repairs, with the deductible. That can be two screen replacements (at $29 x 2), two "other" replacements (at $99 x 2), or a screen and an other ($29 and $99). Technically no more. However, it seems to me it is on a case by case thing, because I know people who have had the additional deductible waived, or who had an extra replacement over the two first ones for the same AppleCare+ deductible.

Ouch, I don't have the courage to carry my phone without a case. I would get that taken care of ASAP. And then put a case on it....

thanks for clearing this up everyone!

atm, im a bit numb about it :(

2.5 feet and landing on concrete right on the corner would damage most iPhones. It is all in the landing and physics.

agreed. it wasnt concrete either, it was old parking lot asphalt where tiny rocks are sticking up. it appears to have landed directly on one of the protruding rocks. the sad part it, it had a decent bumper case. fml atm.

sigh, 7 i-devices later and the odds have caught up with me.

It can happen to anyone at any given time. I have never had Apple Care+ and luckily never needed it. Even if I drop my phone today, I still feel like I am way ahead from what I have saved from insurance.

I am sorry about your loss.

The X with very narrow bezels will suffer more damage. It is sad that the back costs more than the screen.

This is the first iPhone I purchased apple care for. I was more motivated by the extra 2 year warranty than the accidental coverage. 2 of my last 3 iPhones (6plus and 6splus) failed for defects after the first year. My 7plus remains under warranty, so It's too early to say if all 3 will fail.

I want to be able to give the X to another family member next year without them having to pay an expensive out of warranty replacement cost.

Using the X without a case/protection is just foolish.

i did have a case, it just hit the ground at the worst possible spot. a case wont help 100% of the time... esp when the X appears to be more susceptible to cracking.

I am in the same boat as you are. This is also my first time to have Apple Care + for an iPhone due to the iPhone X high replacement cost and the highest break susceptible material.

Depends how bad it is cracked. Is it still useable? If so what I would do is use it until more damage happens to make it worthwhile for a claim.

You should take it to an Apple Store. Be very cool about it and see what can be done, if they'd consider covering it. I've seen that often times, early after launch, they are much more lenient.

Second, did the case have a guarantee or warranty?

Third, credit card. If you bought it outright with a credit card, they often have coverage for the first 60 days or something. You may be able to get it covered, repaired or replaced.
