AppleCare - does it matter which box i buy?

i haven't received my MBA yet, but I do plan on getting AppleCare...my question is...

I'm going to the campus bookstore to buy a book that i need this weekend and i was wondering - can i just buy the AppleCare for the macbook (same price as the MBA applecare) and register that one with the MBA when it comes?
