I believe the haptic engine on my watch is starting to fail and it now seems much weaker and almost hollow, however the only experience I have had with the express replacement service was with a smashed screen which will have been obvious that there was an issue.

If I used the express replacement service and it was determined there was no fault, what would the course of action then be since I'd already have been sent the new watch?

Would I send back the replacement and then have apple send my original watch back to me?

I got my wifes watch replaced recently. brought it to the Apple Store, genius looked at it and deemed it faulty. they sent it back for repair but deemed it couldn't be repaired. they sent a new replacement under apple care+ within 3 days.

If you use AppleCare+ express replacement and they determine there is no fault, they will charge you $69/$99 (depending on the watch) and use one of your replacements. If you already have used one, I would make sure they will find the fault. Maybe taking it to a local store to verify the issue then calling AC+ and using the express replacement.

Ok thanks for clarifying that, I'll try and get it checked out in a store tomorrow and then use the express replacement if they determine there is a fault

I thought about purchasing AC+, but I'm reading about too many issues, especially with the express replacement!

Where are you reading about issues? I have never had a problem with express replacement with Apple Watch or iPhone. If you are referring to the other thread that the Op was denied service, that has nothing to do with express replacement. The problem is he wasn't offered express replacement even though he was entitled to it.
