Is there any advantage to having AppleCare+ for just one year? I will likely be upgrading every year now. If my phone is broken or malfunctions in the first year will everything be the same as if I had AppleCare+ with $79 per incident fee?

I think the only difference is if you didn't get AppleCare+, you would have to pay $229 for accidental damage replacement (vs. $79) and on-the-phone tech support only runs 90 days, or something like that. If I was upgrading every year I wouldn't pay for AppleCare+.

You can request a refund after the first year for the prorated amount remaining. Did this last year and paid $99 for AppleCare+ for one year, then at the end of the year when the iPhone 5 came out I was refunded $48. So roughly $51 for one year of AppleCare+.

Anyone use Square Trade and were happy with it ? Lost or stolen is important to me, and my renters insurance does not cover a smartphone (USAA)

So, this can't be moved over to the new device? AppleCare+ is attached to the device?
