Nope,

it's not worth it. Unless apples are less reliable and not as well built as they used to be. And someone said most laptops last 3 years, in my opinion, if a laptop lasts three years before something fails, even hard drive, its crap. I mean, I even have an averatec laptop that I've had for 6 or 7 years, running windows, terrible i know, that hasnt had a single problem. I bought a white macbook 2.1 core2duo, 4gb ram, for $799, brand new when it came out(directly from) amazon, and they had a huge rebate. So it wouldnt make sense to pay another 1/2 the cost of the laptop, just for a warranty. Especially in my financial situation. Just treat your laptop with care, and if it dies out within 3 years, i'd suggest building your own macbook pro. I've seen some really nice home built mbp's. And no one can tell, cause they used the same shell.

AppleCare for the Macbook is $180 which is 23% of the extremely discounted price you paid for your MB, not half. Another way of looking at it is $7.50 for each additional month of total coverage over the second and third years. In my book that's a small price to pay for the peace of mind (not to mention increased resale value) should anything go wrong.

Like I said I've had several occasions to use my coverage already for my iMac and I will never buy another Mac without AppleCare. The one time I did and ended up out of pocket $550 to replace the logic board on an iMac only 6 weeks out of the one year warranty was enough to teach me my lesson.
