i wonder what the warranty setup will be for these devices.

will service providers be able to do repairs or will we be stuck taking them to apple stores or sending in.

this for me is very important.


i want to protect my investment.


hopefully they will be well priced :p

You'll bring it into the Apple store just like the rest of their products. If you buy it from certain resellers, you might be able to get it serviced through them.
Keep in mind, Apple does not really fix iPhones or iPods. If the device is malfunctioning and you are under warranty, they generally give you a brand new device.
I'm not sure if you are new to Apple or not, but just in case you don't know, AppleCare does not cover accidental damage. If the device malfunctions as the result of a manufacturing defect, you're covered.
