The only device I have ever purchased an extended warranty for is my Xbox 360 and that's only because I knew they were crappy and I was bound to get an RROD within the 2 year period. That's also a device that doesn't change as far as specs go...so after two years, you'd be getting the same console.
As for laptops...outside of the first year, if it hasn't failed yet, it likely won't. For that reason alone, I don't bother with it. The other side of that coin is that if it does fail in two or three years, I'll likely be persuaded to upgrade to the newest version anyway. I don't use laptops for more than 2 or 3 years before I'm itching for an upgrade anyway.
200 dollars on a 1000 machine is way too much BTW (1000 being the cost of a brand new 11")...especially since you'd be getting a newer and faster version for that 1000 if something did break.
There is a reason all these companies have these extended warranties...cuz they make a ton of money on them. If they weren't making money, they wouldn't offer them. Which means that MOST of the time, the end user gets screwed out of the money.
For some people, piece of mind is worth 200 bucks...so if you're in that camp, then the 200 is worth it.
