So, I'm having my iPhone looked at by a genius for wifi issues. How does Apple differentiate between the two? Do they decide if it's one or the other? Do defects count against the two replacements? I'm sure the genius will explain this to me but I wanted some info before going in.

As long as your iPhone doesn't have water damage or any extensive physical damage, your WiFi Issues will more than likely be classified as a product defect and not accidental damage.
