Well here is the story, I had a 1.5 Ghz 15" powerbook I paid $1499, the day they 1.67Ghz was release, the only difference was 0.167 Mhz, and I paid $700 bucks less ( purchased at Good Guys), when to the Apple Store across the road and got the upgrade Apple care, this was febrary 7th 2005.

In April my thermosat stop working and I ended up sending in my Powerbook for repairs, I was in Germany at the time, and it was shipped to the UK. When I got it back the case was damaged, and I could not put DVD in the drive.

I could not send it back into Apple in europe so I called Apple in the USA, and setup and turn in for when I got back to California (it was 3 weeks later).

I send my powerbook in and was fixed on the 13th June. but on the website it said pending shipment. after 10days of this message I called AppleCare and ask what up, they said in final test before shipment the logic board reported errors. They did a part search, and nothing was available until mid july (this news was like some girl friend just dumped me, and yank my heart out). The nice Apple care lady said sorry and ask if I wanted to speak to customer service, I said ok, and she patch me though. This guy said sorry and offered to replace the unit with a MacBook Pro 2.0 Ghz, 1GB memory in 1 memory board( I have 1.25 GB of ram in the powerbook).

I am so impressed with this customer service, they were polite, and replaced my powerbook G4.

I am happy, but the bad news is I will no longer able to play Americas Army, it does not play well on the intel.

My Mac Collection is growing well, I now have

iMac 2.0 Ghz Core Duo with 2GB Ram and 250 HD 128 Graphics
MacBook 20.0 Core Duo 1 GB Ram 80 GB HD and 128 Graphics
PowerMac G4 400 704MB ram 80 GB HD and 200 GB HD with external 300 GB HD running Mac OS X server 10.4.7
    iMac G3 350 Mhz 320 MB 8GB HD running Mac OS X 10.2.8
    iMac G3 333 Mhz 512 MB 8GB HD running Mac OS X 10.2.8
    iBook G3 300 Mhz 192 MB Ram 6GB HD running Mac OS X 10.2.8

I administrate the following (with help of Apple Remote Desktop 3).
MacBook 2.0 Ghz Core Duo with 1 GB wife computer
    PowerBook G4 1.5 Ghz 12" 512MB Ram
    eMac G4 1.25 Ghz 512 MB RAM
iBook G3 700 Mhz 640 MB Ram (on loan to mother)
iBook G4 1.33 Ghz (brother in NZ)

There's a small part of me hoping that something like this happens right before AppleCare runs out on my PowerBook a year from now.

Me too. My PB 17" 1.33 has had it's logic board replaced twice, SuperDrive 3 times and the screen once. Hmmm - maybe if I overheat the logic board a couple of times before November :D

Good story, glad to hear Apple was able to help you in the end.

Sometimes Apple really comes through for people.
